yeah, at one point, it was effortless for him. he could string words together really, really well back in the day. to me, that was eminem's biggest strength...how well he could rap. even the people i know who aren't big fans of eminem, agreed that he was an incredible lyricist. not to get off topic, but big pun was great in the same regard

Oh glad she thought he is a good lyricist I thought it was going to be about her complaining about Eminem calling her a male lady.

I hear ya, I don't really relate to black people stories either. I relate to sticking gerbils in my a---, killing and raping my mom, big weenies...the usual white person struggle

Lol @Narsh this isn't even a debate. If you wanna argue who's the better artist, have at it. But lyricist? Not even close

Hahaha first let me clarify I'm talking about both rappers at the height of their game. okay to me at least eminem was the only person who could combine the technical side of rap, throw it in with some gooooood story telling, and make it a hit all at once. He was so effortless in making songs (see lose yourself, stan). To me I don't think it's a debate, 1999-2003 eminem is the goat by a decent margin.
Edit: also em rapped circles around biggie on dead wrong

I always hear people say Pac would still be making music, writing books, or running in politics. Do y'all think biggie would still be making music if he was alive?

Genuinely believe they each would face the same problems as other artists who stayed in the game so long: either they'd run out of s--- to say or would be very repetitive

    dead wrong is irrelevant.

i think biggie's presence and delivery matches eminem's own great delivery back in the day and technical ability. so the gap for both in their primes isnt as far off as you're making it.

maybe as overall rappers you could make the argument that eminem edges it cause of how effortlessly incredible he was technically, on top of his other talents, but this is just about lyricism right?

storytelling's a huge part of that for me, and both these rappers were some of the best ever to do it. both have some of my favorite storytelling tracks. the gap in talent isn't that big, unless you want to give more wait to the technical aspect of eminem's ability. but, as i said, i think thats countered by biggie's other positive attributes.

tl;dr -- in the long run, i prefer biggie's execution to Em's. and his content too, if we're being honest

Em stans gotta be the most close minded people. So quick to reduce an entire genre to a few phrases that only they use for the most part. Multi syllabic complex rhyme schemes, yeah that makes someone a good rapper.

Understood my dude. I can respect your opinion. If we're talking about both artists in their prime, you have no bad option!

Have you listened to eminem's early work?? Gtfoh if you think that's all, let's say, TES eminem was. Why do em haters have a hard time admitting that he is still thee best to ever do it, regardless of the s--- he puts out now, for any given time period.

thing is, with modern day em, this is all they have to cling on to. so you cant blame them.

but ffs, em in his prime had SO many other incredible traits as well...you dont even need to bring up his technical ability haha

his flow, his delivery, storytelling etc

Worded much better. While he obviously has technical prowess today he's not the artist he once was. Hate when people generalize eminem as an average artist because of what he is today tho. Like you can't tell me for 5 years em wasn't a top 5 rapper to ever do it
Edit: not saying you're saying that lol, just the dude you quoted totally lumped the two together as if em was always just a rappity rap guy.

right, but YOU cant tell me 12 years of dogshit doesn't make you average overall :westbrook2:

edit: there's a reason the phrase "in his/her prime" exists right?
