Apr 8, 2015 actually, yes. if you're a good writer for 200 words but can't do anything longform, you're not as good as the guy who can do both. the fact that biggie wrote ready to die and eminem didn't write an album that approaches that speaks to their respective abilities as lyricists, absolutely. agree with your first sentence, disagree with the second, as stated above. i understand where you're coming from but i think it's reductive to pretend lyricism is all about what you can do over 32 bars in a vacuum. eh. em was a very good storyteller but do you really think stan and brain damage are in the same stratosphere as those biggie songs? n----s bleed is a masterpiece. it plays out both in biggie's head and externally. it has those descriptions of his co-conspirator, the back-and-forth with himself, the yada-yada-ing over a whole shootout. i think biggie is one of the best writers to ever live, and eminem was merely very good.
Apr 8, 2015 Honest to God I think Stan is a better written song than anything biggie has ever done by quite the margin. Same with something like lose yourself
Apr 8, 2015 Yikes to any of these being on the same level as the two I've listed. I forgot my opinion's invalid and yours is correct my bad g
Apr 8, 2015 I'm not a "n-----".. don't call me that...and second of all.. I never trip, I'm always standing. Third, it's my opinion.. you're not entitled to like it, and we all have one.. chill out.
Apr 9, 2015 niqqa stop, big pun was one dimensional, (just like Big L). Biggie had much DIVERSE content than pun. Eminem had an even more DIVERSE catalog than both of them. Diversity shows that an artist has a WIDER grasp on the craft, equating to a higher level of lyricism by default. Also, the way Eminem writes is objectively on a higher and more complicated technical level than both. Technical level demonstrates a higher level of control over the syllables, patterns, and phonics of the actual words. Eminem is as technical as it gets. I think if we compared their notebooks, Eminem's s--- would like some wierdo alien s--- compared to Biggie and Pun. you know i'm right.. Plus, you said that Pun is better than BOTH BIggie AND Eminem. Clearly this is some biased favoritism. Am i right? Ready to Die and MMLP both s--- on Capital Punishment by the way.
Apr 9, 2015 you should tell @CharlieWork about that list of the greatest 30-35 rappers you made on studio leaks in which eminem was included but biggie wasn't.........but then the next time you made the list.........boom! biggie magically appears. but i'm sure when crafting the list the first time, you just "forgot" about biggie, he wasn't that popular after all
Apr 9, 2015 i posted about biggie slipping my mind in the original thread, lol. it would be one thing if i argued not including him--i addressed it the same day i made the list, rofl
Apr 10, 2015 I love just sitting back and watching r-----s argue with each other over there own personal preferences. It makes me smile.
