Idiocracy: 3.5/5 Clever idea and some funny scenes, also some cheesy and stupid over the top stuff although I guess that was kinda the point. I enjoyed it overall, good movie.

this is incredible. extremely strong performance by kevin spacey. the rest of the actors do a great job as well. this movie is unique, disturbing and really funny at times. it's a good look into family problems. the ending is the icing on the cake

Levity contradicts emergency. Heroes don't need to be comedians. The narrative trots to a decent climax only to reset.

Review from Aesthetics of the Mind: aestheticsofthemind.wordpress.com/2015/06/01/mad-max-fury-road-miller-2015/

An exceptionally captivating, hyper textural example of postmodern spectacle. The film forgoes narrative intention; a negation of learned concepts allows it to breathe new and communicate by purely formal means.

Rapid cutting, the representation of rapid blinking, form generative montage sequences which transfix the viewer and transform the image. The result is a synesthetic cinema: the evocation of multiple senses, particularly one’s sense of touch. Sound is vibration, image is celluloid (or at least appears), and one’s sense of touch is activated through the juxtaposition of image and sound in Mad Max. From lizard squashing to chain pulling, monster truck driving, and sand grinding, one ostensibly feels a myriad of textures as one receives a hyper sensory output of pure form.

      90/100 – Amazing.

A great turn from Paul Giamatti and some amusing dialogue make up for the lackluster script and narrative direction. Good.

I watched Se7en with commentary by Fincher, Pitt and Freeman.
Found a beautiful dvd special edition copy. The packaging is incredible. Case looks like a composition notebook.
I've never realized how absolutely beautiful the film is until now. Easier to parse the visuals with the commentary running.
The florescence in the latter half of the film contrasted with pitch black they got by reduction and reapplication of nitrate. Stunning.

    The Aviator

it's good, not great. it's also very long, but i don't feel like it drags. this is one of the best performances i've seen by leo. he's great in his portrayal of howard hughes. i wasn't a big fan of the accent, but besides that he was awesome. i still feel like this movie could have been better, but i wasn't disappointed either.

I went to the movies yesterday because it was only $5 a ticket and $2 for popcorn and a drink. I took this girl that I'm kind of into and told her we were going to watch Mad Max. She had no idea what that was but she didn't mind. Such a great movie, I'd say a 9/10. Now I hate girls that don't let you pay attention and want to be all cuddly while im trying to watch a movie but this girl I went with was so into the movie she actually let me enjoy it. After the movie she was telling me how much she liked it and how we should watch the original sometime. So this girl didn't bug me during the movie, she recommended we go yesterday because of the prices, and actually loved this movie. Let just say I may have found a keeper, thanks Mad Max.

I also raised The Yards to 90/100 aka 5 stars. James Gray is quickly becoming an absolute favourite director. With only 1 film left, it being perhaps his most critically acclaimed, Two Lovers, he may very likely become the second ever director I give a perfect filmography (all 5 star features). Andrei Tarkovsky is currently the only one.
