Zombieland. It was enjoyable, but I expected more of it tbh. 7/10

Babadook (again). Some very strong parts. Not just jump scares, but actually some really scary parts. Also love the plot, the book thing >. Still, imo it could have been a lot better. The kid annoyed the s--- out of me and there were a couple of really boring parts too. However, one of the better horror movies of the last years. 7.8/10

Anyone seen It Follows? Better or worse than Babadook?

A drifting camera and low key lighting examine the nature of abuse, pain, trauma, and its psychological affects.

Besides all the pandering Americanism is a decently choreographed hockey film. Propagandha, filler, and cliche bring it down.

      57/100 - Mediocre.

As fun to watch as the actors and director had making it. McConaughey and Linklater before each of their prime.

Some funny moments, mostly from Kevin Hart, sprinkled throughout this silly, escapist, sometimes crude Will Ferrel flick.

Joaquin Phoenix carries this intimate character study, intensely conveying the pain of unrequited passion and its consequent acquiescence.

Similiar, imo. psychological indie horror. Where the monster is a metaphor. Good, but flirts with pretension.

    **

NIGHTCRAWLER: Good, but felt familiar. DRIVE + TAXI DRIVER + NETWORK. Great acting, plot, of course
THE COBBLER: You know, I heard awful things... and it wasn't good, but I was expecting something atrocious. Just kind of middling, better than your average Sandler gimmicky film, which naturally isn't saying much.

It was "trending" on NETFLIX, and gf is gone for the week :emoji_slight_frown:

(part of me wondered if theres some collusion involved, since Sandler has that exclusive distribution deal with netflix now... how could that be trending)

    Lawrence of Arabia 1962
    ★★★★½ Watched 18 Jun, 2015

87/100 - Running at 216 minutes, the quintessential epic, Lawrence of Arabia (1962), is undoubtedly one of the most impressive and extravagant features in film history, easier to respect than to be truly moved by.

The film is considered by many to be a great cinematic achievement, though much of it would be considered filmed theater.

In its entirety, Lawrence of Arabia feels rather mythical-fictional than archaeological/ethnographical. Though it supposedly documents the actions of a living person, the film wears its fictional rhetoric on its sleeve.

Watched Sideways for the second time and I really liked it again. If kind of reminds me a little of the Frasier brothers. 9/10

Though I'm not nor have ever been an eleven-year-old girl, I really dug Inside Out, Pixar's best imo since Up. For what's rather high-concept for a kids' film, Inside Out seamlessly applies its conceit at a breakneck pace through a series of increasingly clever gags and scenarios. I was very impressed overall.

Went to Jurassic World Thursday night. I'll give it a 7/10. There's your fair share of cheesiness and gimmicky s--- but still a pretty good movie. The dinosaurs looked great. Nostalgia factor was huge with this one too.

Came here to make the exact same post

It also hit home (no pun) because moving was a big part of my growing up

I was trying stop myself from bawling by the end

I loved it and can see myself revisiting it like I would be toy stories, or finding nemo, or Up etc

    Very cleansing tbh

    :kdotcry:

    Spy

Drags quite a bit in the early going, but finds its footing when Melissa McCarthy is allowed to let loose and let the insults fly. The over-the-top violence actually undercuts some of the humor, but it's still mostly amicable overall. And Rose Byrne is a f---ing legend.

Jurassic World - Was pleasantly surprised. The way they cut the trailer, it looked like it was going to be overly cheesy and bad. It was still cheesy in some parts, but it was much better than I expected.
