    Secret Window.
One of my favorite Stephen King movie adaptions.
Johnny Depp was great in his role.

One of the few times where I prefer the movie over the novel/novella.

A little overkill... well choreographed action scenes and a singular aesthetic design make it a worthwhile blockbuster.

      70/100 - Good.

Forgoes realism and maturity for feel good filmmaking with strong narrative and visual symmetry.

Both melancholy and gracious. Tokyo Story meets It's A Wonderful Life and has a sensitive child that predates them

      91/100 - Amazing.

The Big Short 10/10. Brilliant performances from everyone, particularly Steve Carell. A fascinating and wonderfully shot film that informs and entertains with the true story of the collapse of the housing market.

Failure to Launch. Bad ratings by critics but I liked it. Nothing special, nothing original, but a nice movie to watch when you're bored. All characters were done pretty well but Zooey Dechanel absolutely stole the show for me here. She's fantastic (and also gorgeous).

f---ing intense, heavy, utterly discomforting movie. To put it simply, it's about a suburban family that is slowly falling apart due to the dads f--- ups, he tries to keep his s--- together, but fails, & it takes a mental toll on him. From that point on, things get very discomforting & very unsettling. You start to see family drama at it's rawest. It's an incredibly real, vivid portayal of family drama, feels like you're in the movie experiencing these things firsthand, quite scary.

It's a dark drama done right, very good depiction of the downfall of a family & the toll it takes on everyone in it.

    8/10

Review & Interpretation published at Aesthetics of the Mind:

Tarr’s poetic vision, a realism so uncanny, so surreal, so alive, is realized in each and every frame of the film, only minorly slighted by Tarr’s undeniable social-satirical agenda. This affectation of his work, which is exceedingly present in his early films, is nearly overcome in Sátántangó, a film which seems to demarcate Tarr’s transcendence to the purely cinematographic—purely poetic cinema—that is found in his final two features, Werckmeister Harmonies and The Turin Horse.

Sátántangó is a monumental cinematic achievement. It uses the art of cinematography, poetry, and literature to convey an image of the experiencing of life, an image which seeks to contain within its form the very depths of space and time, ephemerality and eternity, being and nothingness. There is perhaps no other film more formally daring, more patient and resolute, more wholly encapsulating than Sátántangó.

      99/100 – Masterful

A captivating, high concept animated film from PIXAR which works on so many levels. Perhaps their best.
