Jul 26, 2024 Hey Stans, I was wondering about when and where the last concert Em had early 1999 with Royce as his hype man took place... I started to check out setlist.fm for dates and places... https://www.setlist.fm/search?page=42&query=eminem From what we know for sure, Royce was Em's hype man at the 1999 MTV Spring Break (March 10th 1999), that My Name Is performance: Royce's manager got fired by Dre from Aftermath after saying something like "I saw Em sat Dre down like a pupil" (see the Beef DVD quadrilogy) and Royce eventually decided to leave as well and therefore Em was left with no hype man, that's when Proof came to the rescue and started being Em's hype man until he unfortunately passed. But the timing of the whole thing is a bit confusing... From what I've seen on the setlist.fm website, Em had a concert on March 29th 1999 in London, UK and although I wasn't able to find no footage or audio of it, I have the actual setlist and it's the very first time since they practically started touring for the SSLP that Em performed plenty of songs but did NOT perform any of the BME songs (Scary Movies and / or Nuttin' To Do or even the usual freestyles they used to be doing at those earlier shows...). My guess is that this was Proof's fisrt show as Em's hype man from then on... Next show took place in Detroit, MI (at Mack & Bellevue) on April 3rd 1999 and there is footage online where you can see Proof as his hype man on stage though he still brings out Royce to perform Scary Movies (as a "special guest")..: . So I'm guessing Royce didn't go to London with Em and that's when Proof took over (March 29th 1999). Then for example at the London's Top Of The Pops on April 9th 1999, it's clearly Proof who's now the hype man): . After that, the only times Em had performed with Royce after that Detroit show in early April, was first on April 15th 1999 at the Hammerstein Ballroom in NYC when he only came out to perform Scary Movies with them once again as a "special guest" and right then, only when Em & Proof were touring the midwest / Detroit area (May 16th at First Avenue in Minneapolis, MN and May 23rd 1999 at the State Theatre in Detroit, MI) Royce came out on stage during both shows to perform once again Scary Movies as a "special guest"... that's the last date / show where Royce (although not the hype man no more, still comes out as a guest to perform). Although it's pretty clear when and where the torch had been passed on and who Em's hype man was at this or that show (the very last one with Royce being MTV Spring Break 99, 1st one with Proof being London March 29th 1999)... there's still very few to find online as to when exactly Royce was actually let go of Aftermath and when him & Proof actually started beefing (things were still cool as of May 1999 apparently like "if y'all in the Detroit area I'll come by and perform as a guest" type of situation) but then it took over a decade to finally see Em and Royce back on stage together as part of BME ! I know it's definately not a huge matter for most... But that actually mattered to me, and I thought sharing those informations with other fans would be a good idea.

Jul 27, 2024 Yeah I was indeed talking about the pre-2011 BME stuff they did together, during the recording of SSLP in 98 he shouted the Outsidaz and Royce throughout the whole album and barely ever mentioned D12... I don't think him and Proof were in the best of terms back then, which is why Royce was his hype man from the day they met (New Year's eve 1997) onwards (until March 1999 as I mentioned previously). But really thanks for the May 19th 2000 date I really didn't know they were still in good terms as of the year 2000! It's my very first thread here and I'm glad to meet plenty other Stans !
Jul 27, 2024 I remember reading that Royce was also a proper pisshead back in the day and Em cut ties with him because he was a loose cannon.
