May 7, 2015 1. if it's not confusing, what's the issue? the song is literally, explicitly about self-consciousness. there's no change, there's no misdirection. 2. "out of context," rofl. he creates the context, it's perfectly integrated. you can dislike the vocal tone or whatever, but it's in context by definition. you're impossibly dense. 3. what's a "reach" here? 4. if you think different subject matters require different flows, you're literally an alien who doesn't understand how language works
May 7, 2015 so in a verse about someone's self-consciousness, a concise line about drastic changes to her appearance...doesn't fit?
May 7, 2015 @Young Sinatra how can you say this song doesn't have any specific subject matter? Doesn't Kanye describe exactly what the songs about in the FIRST line? Materialism, being insecure etc? Songs like all falls down are the reason Kendrick can make a track like "ignorance is bliss" that's what WPG meant in that comment you called a reach... You still haven't explained how it's a reach to say what Kanye was doing on this song was a notable departure from rap in that area
May 7, 2015 Not really for me. Like, he talks about a lot of subject matters, but can't reach any one correctly imo And I don't see how All Falls Down and Ignorance is Bliss are similar lol
May 7, 2015 What different subject matters do you think Kanye talks about? To me I see pretty clearly one narrative: the material insecurities of black men and women (Which, by the way, is exactly what kendricks track is about). Just look at the way the verses read on paper: Verse 1: starts with "she's so self conscious" and ends with "single black female addicted to retail" Verse 2: starts with "man I promise, IM so self conscious" and ends with "even if you in a Benz, you still a n----- in a coupe" Verse 3: starts with "f--- the police" (an institution he believes perpetuates the cycle of insecurity he's talking about) and ends with "we're all set conscious I'm just the first to admit it" Just look at that: it should be blatantly clear that there's an obvious overarching theme You're wrong on this end, are you not?
May 7, 2015 But I'm talking about the whole song, there is a main focus but he is talking about other things, which I like but again I don't feel like he is serving justice to those subjects. I don't know why you need to explain yourself so much, I get what Kanye is saying, I have the lyrics, I just don't think he is doing a good job speaking about it.
May 7, 2015 I didn't say it's weak, great production, great flow, great voice but no the lyrics aren't impressive, that's the only point.
May 7, 2015 @Young Sinatra Kanye had the good sense to realise that spitting bars isnt good writing. Multis=/= technical ability. But you're saying the ability to write on topic and get across your humour isn't lyricism, okay.
May 7, 2015 Not in the way he is doing it imo And I'm the first in criticizing Backpack Lyrical Miracle rappers
May 7, 2015 because you're wrong, and wont ever admit it. even when i spell it out as clearly as i just did. only backpedal, deny, play the victim, etc.
