see, i don't, because he's perpetuating things that (i'm guessing, but i think i'm right) his core audience already believes/is susceptible to believing. but jfk is gonna make this about me being "emotional" so i'll drop it.

Not saying you don't have a stance, but were this Dr. Millionaire's music video and there was a skinny white geek with a pocket protector in it or an Asian guy in a ninja costume I really doubt you'd be as bleeding heart about it.

I don't know. Haven't listened. I think Lil Dicky works better as a Youtube rapper. His videos are half the fun.

i mean, what i'm getting at is the very cory of dicky's music, so i think you're kinda arguing around the point. i also certainly wouldn't give a f--- about a white guy in a pocket protector.

"medium talents" is actually how bill murray referred to chevy chase

i do see your point about dicky... but i still dont think his privilege should disqualify him. i feel like u only prefer rap artists who reinforce the kinds of social injustice and urban nihilism ur convinced exists in the world

when pall falls asleep, he says n---- in his dreams

@WPG is the typical white guilt ridden liberal who moves into a gentrified section of a urban city thinking he is actually living the urban experience. Even tho poor minorities were forced out of that section of the city so whites could move in and property values skyrocket

The core of Dicky's music is up for interpretation. That's what we're arguing about. While you think it's about race commentary, a lot of us are pretty sure that it's about humor and playing a character. At the same time, I've never seen you blow up at any of your favorite rappers for their rampant sexism (see your response to the song White Dude). You'd probably chalk it up to environment or something, which is a fitting excuse for Dicky. What about the fat black women when obesity happens to be a serious issue for black females? You really expect some sheltered, white pothead joke-rapper to have some poignant insite or a sterile and pc perception of things? Stop playing the white teacher who rescues the black kids from injustice in the world and relax.

i have a feeling that wpg used to think bill burr was funny, but after further analysis he discovered that he's "overrated" and a "bigot"

you're misunderstanding my point--i don't think dicky sees very much of what he does as race commentary. i think he's mostly oblivious to how it comes off. i also think that stops being an excuse after, like, the ninth grade.

you're drawing a lot of conclusions about what i think/have to say about different issues, and if i wasn't working, i'd delve into them. suffice to say i think you're bending over backward to excuse what he's doing, as i'm sure you think i'm trying to hard to scrutinize him. i'm sure neither of us feel that way about our own positions. your "white teacher" crack is kinda unwarranted given my track record, but it's cool.

Its purely comedy, that's all I saw that was. I'm reading all these comments wondering why the heck its being interpreted otherwise. Its cartoon, and he is a skinny white Jewish looking dude

I'd be interested in hearing why Dicky's oblivious bigotry (even to his black collaborators apparently) is unforgiveable compared to the swarm of sexism embedded in hip-hop culture. For instance, I'm sure you like Too $hort. Why is that different?

You should do a review for POW. I'd read it.
