its interesting to listen to the original right after the demo. Really sheds lights on the production technique eminem has claimed to use several times which is recording the verses over a basic skeleton track then adding all the other instruments/sounds to fit with/enhance the vocals.

I loved hearing this demo. His voice, flow, delivery, lyrics, everything back then was spot on. He was bloody untouchable. God I miss that Eminem.

It was sort of awkward hearing this just because of the fact that LY has been around for so long and heard so many times. It felt kind of weird hearing that guitar riff and hearing lyrics other than "his palms are sweaty, knees weak, arms are heavy..." to start off with.

That said, it was an interesting listen. It was a completely different take on the song and I admire them for putting it out. An outtake or a scrapped version of a song like this is usually the type of song that somehow leaks, it doesn't usually get an official release. That said, I obviously enjoy the classic version more, but this was an interesting listen nonetheless.

I actually think this was intended for the original, rock influenced TES that had Stimulate.

When I first listened to the preview on youtube I was hella amped. You can hear the difference, this was recorded when he was on his peak!
It's crazy even to think about the amount of dope tracks that he has trashed during his carreer.

It's good but to be honest he's not really saying much in the verses... it's almost like he kind of says the same thing over and over. MUCH prefer the final version but it's cool to hear this.

I like the demo version, but what really brought it down for me is that hook. I understand that it's not mastered, but the flow and lyrics and everything about the hook straight up sucks to me. He more than redeemed himself with the verses, but I think the final version is overall a better track.

Was shocked to hear new verses. I thought it was just going to be the final song over the non final instrumental we hear on the bus while hes apparently writing the song.

I think part of the reason that Eminem's flow is so s--- now is that now that he is off drugs he doesn't have the confidence/arrogance he used to have. Drugs helped him loosen up as without them he has low self esteem as it showed in 8 mile when he choked.

maybe, but he was s-----y before his flow fell apart (Encore and Relapse) partly because of all the s--- he was on

Its a masterstroke move from them to chuck this on the compilation. Can imagine a fair few people will check out the rest of the album after seeing the LY demo.

Someone close to Eminem must have realised that a demo song was better than the whole of disc 1. Its too bad for em that nobody has the bollocks to talk to him and put him straight. Thought Rick Rubin would have been the type of geez to do that but he clearly didn't.

    Sigh.

there's probably another version of the song somewhere in the vault, on that lyric print are so many lyrics that haven't made the official nor demo release. A part of the Square Dance lyrics were even supposed to be on lose yourself, this was all pretty interesting to me

His flow back then was so, so good. He just effortlessly went over every beat he was on. I feel like nowadays he does force it. Like he feels like rapping as fast as humanly possible is more important than staying on the beat. He still does on some songs like Bad Guy, but I feel like he's been using the stop and go flow more and more lately.
