Aug 6, 2015 Im hyped. I think maybe some people have lost some hype for it because some unknown artists are on alot of the songs. Justus songs on Youtube sound terrible & Anderson Paak doesn't sound great either. But im sure Dre will bring the best out of them.
Aug 6, 2015 Maybe he re-used the beat though & the lyrics were recorded more recently. We will probably know when we hear it in full later. I just don't think the final song on this album would have lyrics 4-5 years old but we'll see.
Aug 6, 2015 I'm excited for the event, but not so much the music just because I have no idea how this is going to sound.
Aug 6, 2015 Do you think we will get any of his support team like Scott Storch, Mel Man or Mike Elizondo on here? That's what I'm hoping for.
Aug 6, 2015 im not really hyped. maybe its all the features that turns me off. its overkill and i dont understand it but i will def check it out as soon as i can. im just not expecting much.
Aug 6, 2015 Same. It's the event that has me excited. If I'm being completely honest I'm really terrified of this Justus guy and Eminem.
Aug 6, 2015 yea seeing that eminem probably only has 1 verse is a little reassuring, but I really don't like seeing Justus on 3 songs...idk I just wish Dre gave us one single so I could at least have some idea what direction this album is heading in.
Aug 6, 2015 Have you ever heard a Dre album? I don't understand why some of you guys are complaining about the album having so many features. Dre is a producer first, not much of a rapper. His albums are always full of guests. He barely ever has solo songs.
Aug 6, 2015 When Dre says he "scrapped Detox", I think he's primarily referring to two things: The theme. He's likely scrapped his ideas for some grand uniting (and perhaps overly-confining) theme for the album (e.g. day in the life of a hit man, etc.). Club-oriented beats. I remember Jimmy telling Dre that he needed to make his music more appealing to what people were listening to in the clubs circa 2010. Thus, Dre focused less on piano and funk-driven beats and drove towards bigger "club bangers" (e.g. Under Pressure, Kush, Mr. Prescription) Best case scenario, the loose Compton: A Soundtrack title gave Dre an opportunity to scrap these confining, over-ambitious themes and club beats and return to what he does best.
