Nov 11, 2017Again, I'm really not hating. A lot of posters asked for my opinion and well here it is.
I'm still quite hopeful. This wasn't an album killer for me like We Made You or Berserk.
That whole 'He's gonna get rid of all immigrants!'
/'He's gonna build that thang up taller than this!' bit from his freestyle was the most vintage Eminem thing he's done in 15 years. The John McCain part was genius, too.
I'm actually really hopeful for this album. And for what it's worth every lead single has initially disappointed since Without Me. It actually took a few months for me to really appreciate and realize how classic it was. I can distinctly remember thinking it sounded kind of goofy and exactly like the D12 single back then.

Spot on. He talks about how he won't wine when his time is done while wineing about his time being done. I do like his intentions with the content but then he puts Beyonce on it just ruined it for me. I get there wasn't a beat so I can't hate the flow. Good thing is the first single is always different from the album. I think this was just him being insecure like he admitted and has no confidence in his new album.Michael Myers, dkdnfbdjdkdddjdjfvcgfl, themostshady23 and 1 other person like this.(This ad goes away when signing up) -

The song is great he was spitting real content, at least no corny lines like “full of Italian sausage”, this is the realest track he made in awhile sure it seems like it sounds like some of his other material like guts over fear with a more better flow to it, but I’d rather have an album full of those tracks then dumb burping playful songs with no meaning behind it.
& like I said before, why do people care about flow when the meaning of the song is beautiful.afghaniStan, DetroitDGAF, CARNIFEX and 1 other person like this. -

Not a bad read at all. I do like this song and have listened to it more than 5 times since friday. However, the worry about him being able to move away from choppy flow is real. I've supported his evolution through the years.
Relapse was interesting I thought with very interesting and nice flows. However I'm probably too old now for the slim-esque lyrics however the accents didn't really bother me.
Recovery was just solid for me all the way through. Here people were on about the shouting and well... yeah, it was there it just didn't bother me.
MMLP2 was supposed to be a follow-up to MMLP (well duh!) but there was just this extra weird supermarket shopping spree-feel about the tracks, not sure how else to explain that. This is where I later realised that, yeah, the stop-n-go delivery brought me out it. Still, I don't hate MMLP2 as much as many others here. I ended up listening to it for a while and enjoyed it. Still people are right about the delivery simply being too inaccesable at times and it deserves a lot of the critisism it gets.
I like THIS track and think the delivery works for the acapella/piano/strings combo. But even if I do consider myself a Stan, I'm not one of those that'll just swallow it raw if it's all just stop-n-go, or choppy which is the preferred expression in here
He got a pass with this track for sure from me, but I agree, cut this s--- out or you won't be the one deciding if this is your final time around Marshall!

There was nothing wrong with the song and you're the type of "fan" that he can never please. Get over it, go listen to other artists and stop nitpicking over bs.BART, Tal and The Lyricvore like this.(This ad goes away when signing up) -

Exactly. I'm glad you guys got something out of MMLP2. I felt left out as a fan of Eminem. On the flipside I'm glad I enjoyed GOF and Fine Line as much as I did. -

Yeah. Absolutely. I haven't listened to that song in years but I think those verses are peak post-hiatus Eminem. Don't know where it all went wrong after that. As for the song as a whole even though it was mixed poorly I still really like the beat and I don't mind the chorus. But if I'm being objective I can see why people don't like Dre's verse.
I leave that song out of discussions though because I don't know if being one of like 10 people in the entire world that had that song for a few days blinded me lol. @Swizz and @Koolo probably understand -

You know what post hiatus song I find underrated as f---? Where I’m At. Yeah I know “some s--- is going down”. But that hook though. One of the best he’s done post hiatus.SLAYAR, froboy6942 and asvdawg like this. -

@M Solo i kind of said same thing in other thread.. Think I'm a little more on the positive side of things with this song tho then you are. I agree with a lot of what you said and i could be wrong but i really think the song was intended to inform everyone that he hears the criticism like all of it and that its affected him majorly. But i think hes saying all of that to say "i hear you, but i cant please you all, so f--- it here is what ive got." think that was only purpose od this song and the flow and way it was mechanically put together was all done on purpose. I could be wrong but i would bet on it. And think this revival theme is him trying to revive the old him or revive him all together into something we have never seen him be before. Either way the way they have done this roll out and even the type of song the single is definitely makes me hyped to see what hes going to bring because all of this is stuff they've never done before and i think they have finally started to give in a little bit and realized his former GOAT status isnt going to carry him and keep him relevant with the same old recipe. Theyve been forced to adapt to the new landscape of hip hop and the digital and social media age. Hope it works out for the best. But i take the song for the message and nothing else because i really believe thats all it was and everything about it was done intentionally. -

They still won't listen to me about MMLP2 so they won't here lol. -

A part of me wants to believe he led with w.o.w to address the critics head on so the rest of the music can just breath when it comes out .
We'll find out in a week.
I agree on the forgetting to rap piece. He's so mechanical it takes away from any emotion what so ever. It's like he's graduated to rainman status and he can't just do a regular A/B rhyme scheme...Last edited: Nov 11, 2017shadyslim555, hustleandcuss and Guma like this.
