    You know the rest hahahaha. You know how MGK is a pedo, Eminem should flip a sick line like “Smokey bear” pedo- bear wants beef etc. idk I’m wild guessing at this point. So many angles Eminem can play with.

    It’s hard to expose a man who exposed almost everything already.

    I understand that, but then he's dissing himself too, what about all those mmlp2-revival era verses where he just lists a bunch of stuff that rhyme because they rhyme?

    Of course other rappers have content problems, but listing off a bunch objects that rhyme but mean nothing when put together is a lazy thing eminem does to fill bars. I don't know any other rapper that does this:

    "With a lamp post, door handle, shutter
    A d--- bolt cutter, a sandal, a can opener
    A candle, rubber, piano, a flannel, sucker
    Some hand soap, butter, a banjo and manhole cover
    Hand over the mouth and nose smother"

    "Take some inventory: in this gourde there’s a Ford engine
    Door hinge, syringe, an orange
    An extension cord, and a Ninja sword
    Not to mention four linchpins, an astringent stored
    Ironin’ board, a bench, a wrench, a ore
    Wench, an attention whor-"

    "One ball and half a d-ck, Apple Watch
    Crack front axle, walked in a Bass Pro Shop with David Hasselhoff, pulled Tabasco sauce out of my satchel"

    Also, some rappers who have repetitive content are still experimenting with flow, melody, etc...eminem showed a lil more leeway on this album in that sense but he still frequently resorts to cramming in as many syllables as possible.

    Em has close to 400 songs...who CARES if he listed off some object on a couple of occasions?? You guys go on about the stupidest things as though it sums up his entire body of work.

    Because it's bad writing and we're on a discussion forum. If you don't wanna have critical discussions about rap then go circle jerk on r/hiphopheads.

    No, it doesn't sum up his entire body of work, but it's a trait that's been in his music for the past five years. It makes songs less enjoyable to listen to for me.

    I do want critical discussion, my point is you guys go on and on about this as though it DOES define him as an artist. And please dont give me that BS, I actually think Em's work, his writing, isn't discussed on here critically enough, in fact. All to often it's dismissed altogether cuz of a line someone perceives as cheesy, etc.

    And for the record, as has already been pointed out... these instances on the new album of supposedly random object at least had a purpose - he was pointing the finger at the other, less than creative artists who dominate the landscape these days.

    For the most part I agree, but there's some pretty bad pockets of writing on The Ringer. I think it was @Poohdini who mentioned that some of these songs are really long for no reason, and I think he easily could have shaved some of the terrible lyrics (like the crest white strip s---) and made them tighter songs.

    are you suggesting... eminem is a hypocrite?

    and like, sure. but given what he know about the album - and certainly drawing from the LL interview - it's clear he thinks modern rap is lazy. (whereas him rhyming random stuff was technical proficiency.) not defending per se, just my sense of what his pov is

    You know what isn't talked about on S80 enough? Em's GOOD writing. So if you want "critical discussion" like you claim, you could try to be a little more balanced in your reviews/lyrical analysis.

    I think its kinda fine on the ringer -except yeah after 4 minutes I was like ok we get it now-. The last part is really cool though and he could have cut some filler to make it a 4 min perfect song..

    However I think his verses on some feats are even better examples of what u mean

    Last part of caterpillar - poop references after a gr8 start
    Medicine man - I like it but how amazing was the opening of it compared to the overly long bs after the beat drop

    There are more verses like this were he has a great 45 sec verse but does 1 minute of fast s--- after it to impress people
