The discussion is ongoing, Koolo and Papa Andy disagreed with me so I was expanding upon my points. In my eyes, it is a defining feature of his recent work that makes it not stand up to scrutiny as well as his old s---. Listen to stuff from the late 90s/early 2000s and he could cram a bunch of s--- into a few bars that was not only technically sound, but had real meaning. And it sounded effortless. When he does that now it doesn't feel like that, it feels like cramming in syllables for the sake of cramming in syllables. I'm not dismissing his writing altogether (it's a lot better on this album than it has been in a minute), but we can't pretend it's not without his flaws. We have people in the Kamikaze thread saying Em's wordplay is "alien" and s--- so it's not like there aren't two sides of the fence.

I've conceded many times that, in that particular instance, the random object thing had a purpose, but it's a less effective device to me BECAUSE he's done it so many other times in his music.

It's definitely his POV—being the very professional citric that I am I even wrote an article about it before Revival came out :MJDK:

There's lots of modern rap that's lazy—lyrically, flow-wise, production-wise—some of Em's is lazy too, but for different reasons.

Fair enough. I dont like the random object strings either, but when you pack as many words in to a song as he does, you literally have to keep rhyming throughout (trying not to use the word filler here).

As for S80s other obsession...pointing out the "cheesy line," and claiming a song is "trash" cuz of it ...this makes me think of how the critics are responding to "The Ringer" currently...Did he say f*ggot? And then everything else is forgotten...or they plug their ears for the rest.

Of course. And I'm certainly not talking about everybody, all the time. And yeah, so far there's been overwhelmingly positive feedback to Kami. But, lol, It's just a matter of time before someone points out the "#2", "taking a dump" line and starts talking about how they can help but CRIIIIIINGE when they listen to The Ringer, or something along those lines. Then people will start falling in line like a high school popularity contest. And THAT, my friend, is the truly cringy part.

Maybe.. but thats not weird though. Most of us were caught off guard when he dropped this. My first listen I was blown away. And honestly after more listens I still loved it.

But when the hype settles down, you are going to see its flaws, replay value might go down for (parts) of it, you get tired of certain songs. That stuff happens all the time. Its just that peoe talk about an eminem album 10000 times more than any other artist it seems like its only happening w his music.

Time will tell how this album will age. I am still pretty confident right now w sayings its a very good album, w some truly vintage stuff on it, but its not a bad thing to be critical.. a thread full off oooh all of it is 10/10 is boring as f--- lol.

Why the h--- does anyone watch some guy reviewing music anyways? Music is the easiest thing to form your own opinion of.

Dont ask me I never watch them. But you can watch them w/o copying their opinion, its interesting seeing things from different views imo. But I rather read a review than watch some nerd

For sure. Trust me, I don't give a s---; I'm just calling a spade a spade. A lot of people are afraid to form their own opinions in here.

Kind of hard to take the guy seriously after he popped a bottle of champagne just because Eminem dropped his name in a song.

He's obviously not really upset and is just taking advantage of the moment hoping Eminem will respond.

I doubt Eminem responds with anything though. He's too old for this s---.

It's funny how everyone is just so afraid of straight up dissing him. Even when dissing him, they still praise him at the same time. It's like they're afraid to go all in. And there is a ton of s--- that could be said about Em if they really wanted to get under his skin.

But props to him I guess. That's the closest thing to an Eminem diss track we've heard since the Ja Rule era. Even Rick Ross praised Eminem when dissing him.

It's rare, but Eminem/50 Cent kind of did end Ja Rule's career. Not with a single song, but with their beef in general.

Ja Rule and his team weren't allowed to attend BET and awards show at some point because Eminem/50 and their team were going to attend.
