Of course a company's bottom line is to make money. How could you ask a company to prioritise anything else? It's crazy

Individual pharmacists and DOCTORS (which someone referred to as pawns) do not do this. Children don't bust their a----s throughout school from the ages of 6 to keep people hooked on medicine lol. They do it because they want to be a doctor. I personally know many medical professionals (I currently study psychology and support the use of anti depressants etc) whose absolute number one priority is the wellbeing of their patients.

You think doctors work in f---ing trauma wards or out in the sticks just to keep big pharma's hands in everyone's pockets? Lol d--- that's honestly crazy

Then you're not a nut you're a rational human being. This song implies that doctors are in cohorts with "Big Pharma" and I think that's a really dangerous idea, particularly for those who are paranoid and depressed and delusional etc and already have a distrust for the people who only want to help them. I think its a terrible idea that keeps getting pushed by lunatics, and Macklemore apparently.

But onto the pharmaceutical companies.. how else could they throw hundreds of millions of dollars into R&D (which is genuinely beneficial to society as a whole) if they weren't turning billion dollar profits?

We'd all still be dying of TB and Malaria if pharmaceutical companies were not for profit. That is a fact. It's no coincidence rich countries don't have these diseases and it's not because of quinoa and kale.

Shkreli is a saint. Misrepresented in the media. He was just playing the game. I'm more concerned with doctors that push harmful or addictive drugs either willingly or out of ignorance. The salesmen aren't even that much to blame because they're forced to upsell and sugarcoat drugs to seem harmless, and then 5 years later you see ads about how bad those drugs were. I know plenty of people that have gotten way more oxys or vicodins or xans than they needed and they'd flip what they had left or save them for themselves. If you take things like that for months you grow a quick tolerance and dependancy, and the doctors either know it or are s-----y doctors.
