Jan 22, 2016 There's absolutely no way to create a song about White Privilege without rubbing people the wrong way. He's well intentioned. It's awkward. It's honest to a fault. This is the song equivalent of him posting that Kendrick text. Macklemore genuinely believes he's socially required to continually press this issue. Whether he should or not is his decision. For what it's worth, it's a good song.
Jan 22, 2016 Idk something comes off as inauthentic with this one. I want to say he should be applauded for trying to tackle this sort of subject matter head on but it just feels more like him trying to fit in.
Jan 22, 2016 Just wondering why you think an artist who genuinely speaks out against all kinds of discrimination & hatred deserves the death penalty. But apparently putting your thoughts together is too daunting of a task
Jan 22, 2016 I don't really have any comment on the subject matter but the way this song is built is pretty interesting to me tbh
Jan 22, 2016 Isn't that the point tho? Like if he tries he is f----- and if he doesn't try he is f----- too... I at least applauded him for trying....
Jan 22, 2016 The half of the song he spends conveying how unsure and confused he is on his responsibilities in the current climate is really good tbh.
Jan 22, 2016 I mean I'm sure his intentions were good when he decided to rap about this. Something doesn't pull me in however, even when the content of the song is something that might feel foreign to you the best writers always find a way to make it universal and that's sort of where my issue is with this one.
Jan 22, 2016 you took a completely fictional and ridiculous scenario of me having the opportunity to take someone off the planet and turned it into me wanting him to be given the death penalty. classic liberal
