Jul 11, 2025 at 1:29 AM Got out of Superman. It’s good. Love the action and makes Superman actually have a personality! But I didnt like how fast paced the first 30 minutes were. Feels very like a cartoon come to life. 8/10. Good start to the dcu

Jul 11, 2025 at 1:39 AM It’s pretty good, but maybe it’s cuz I’m not the biggest Superman fan and am glad they made him less boring than he historically has been. The film is perfect blockbuster comicbook movie structure, but it’s super fast. Maybe I’m getting old but s--- popped off instantly and didn’t let off the pedal but for maybe once or twice in the film. It’s kinda overload.

I actually haven’t seen this much widespread praise for a dc movie since Wonder Woman. d---, and even me with having alot of problems with the filming and story missed opportunities, gave it an 8. DC did it. Wow, @Marsh ie punching the air I bet after being wrong so much this week. DC won, you flops lost
Jul 11, 2025 at 2:10 AM Also forgot to say the action is insane. It will make you feel like a kid again. Maybe why I like the final act the most. Closet we ever got to seeing a dragon ball fight in live action. This is how Superman should fight and feel.
Jul 11, 2025 at 11:54 AM F4 projections say it will. Also F4 just looks better visually. James Gunn is obviously the best superhero director but his movies always feel kinda cheaply filmed. I can see why people say this compares to Spiderman in tone, but I think Spiderman 1 and 2 still hold up and are shot better
Jul 11, 2025 at 12:10 PM Superman opening day is doing amazing domestic but poor numbers internationally. Analysts say $500M-$600M is the range depending on 2nd weekend drop. It seems like another thunderbolts type of thing is happening overseas, where reviews are great but it might end closer to Brave New world then we think. Intresting? Hopefully it has a strong 2nd weekend before F4 takes IMAX screens away. It will break even if it makes over $500M, but it needs that $700M number to be considered a major success. That marketing budget was massive. Wonder what this means for F4? Will it come out similar with rave reviews but struggle to get to $800M or not. We will have to wait and see. It’s still doing amazing tho, and biggest of the year. But I do think Superhero movies are frontloaded these days

Jul 11, 2025 at 1:52 PM No DC thread so I’ll post here. Superman was great. Punk Rock motif was my favorite messaging from any superhero movie ever. Perfect? No, but it’s the perfect movie for right now and it had a lot to say. Very well cast.
