So in other words, you're content with the level of gun violence in the USA. With Drugs, I'm with you, the war on drugs has been a failure but gun control has been proven to work. Quoting Hitler is a bit of a reach isn't it? The UK has gun control but isn't a Nazi-esque state.

No, I just said that gun violence is a big problem in the USA and it has to be dealt with in the form of common sense gun legislation that would benefit everyone; the problem is that it doesn't appear to be realistic. establishing any sort of legislation, that would disqualify people from getting guns on the basis of mental health, might be obstructing the 2nd amendment. It's also hard to discover that these people have mental health issues before they do anything.

So no im not content with the violence but i dont believe in people thinking that big government can solve the problem when that would only intensify it. Just like the war on drugs. this is about personal responsibility and mental health.

So you recognise that gun violence is a huge problem and recognise that some gun control needs to be introduced but you are still against gun control and so nothing will change which effectively means you are content with the level of gun violence. This is not just about personal responsibility, drugs affect the person taking them, guns affect everyone.

The level of gun violence would go down an incredibly small percent if you banned rifles. It'd take handgun legislation for it to actually make a difference statistically.

People decide to k--- people, if you make the guns harder to get, it doesnt stop the violence. I am responsible enough to not s---t anyone and so are millions of other americans so dont punish them

May I ask why you disagree that gun laws should be much more strict @Lamont ? Is it because you believe it is a basic right or do you think guns have a more positive effect on society rather than negative? I'm just trying to understand what your beliefs on the subject are.
In my opinion, I think Assault Rifles are unnecessary. I can understand why people have hand-held guns but anything more seems ridiculous (unless you are hunting). I live in Texas and it isn't strict at all here. Yes people are the ones committing the crimes but shouldn't we do something to try and prevent this? Although, I completely agree that more needs to be addressed such as mental illness and the social enviroment they are raised in.

Apparently they aren't even sure if the suspect's weapon was real and that the injuries were from the tear gas the police used to get the "shooter". So headlines are spreading of a "mass shooting" in Germany where possibly nobody except for the suspect was shot? Seems like the media trying to make headlines to spark more gun control debates. And all of you guys are immediately jumping to defend your opinion (on both sides) without even looking into what even happened over there. It's quite sad actually.

I didn't twist your views, my point is effectively where you stand g. People do decide to k--- people, guns give them the means to amplify the violence and may even increase the incentive to do it. If guns are harder to get then it does lessen the violence as seen in the UK.

This is a non argument. You can use a vehicle as a weapon, for example. It's not made to k---, but it can be very effective. If you turned on the news and saw that twenty people died and forty were injured because someone drove a pick up truck on a sidewalk, would you want to discuss banning vehicles then?
