I addressed this graphic before on this board. State and local gun restrictions don't do anything for reasons that should be obvious to anyone with a basic understanding of how, like, cars and highways work.

If we're talking about mass shootings specifically then without a doubt banning assault rifles will help lower the 'numbers'. People who carry out mass killings in the West are mostly people with psychological issues. These people are what we consider to be loners, losers, introverts etc

People can still buy guns illegally? Sure. But most mass shooters wouldn't be capable of that. You think a loner cac like the Sandy Hook shooter would be able to go to some gangs or criminals and buy an assault rifle and ammunition illegally? Doubt it. That happened because it was so easily available for him in his own house. It is 100x easier and more effective to buy an assault rifle legally in the U.S than it is illegally. Especially if you're in the demographic that most mass shooters are. Sure the Sandy Hook guy could've carried out his attack with a pistol, or a car or a hammer but you can't seriously deny with a straight face that the number of victims would have been considerably lower.


Yes people will always find ways to k--- people but it's all about minimizing the damage. And banning assault rifles would minimize the damage done in mass killings. In Israel late last year or earlier this year random muslim civilians were attempting to go on killing sprees and without guns avalaible they were stabbing and running people over with cars. Yes a few people did die but overall the number of deaths during that period was still lower than the Sandy Hook or Orlando massacres which only took an hour or so. If those Palestinian civilians in Israel had assault rifles available as easily as the U.S. The numbers would have been drastically different

It won't eliminate the problem entirely but you simply can't deny it would lower the number of victims
