The director's been posting concept art for the movie on his twitter account recently







On one hand it's heartening that he clearly gives a s--- about the source material, but there's stuff from every game in there and I'm not sure I'm cool with the movie being a mashup of the whole series.

The MGS series is such a slow burn massive storyline that shoving it all into one movie would severely undercut the magic and detail of the source material imo

yeah same

concept arts look great and he really seems to care, but still there are so many ways for this to go wrong

like how he gonna screen ~1939-2018 history with so many different characters and depth in 2-3h movie? even if its gonna be about only 1 character (naked/solid/liquid), he will have to take too many shortcuts

Seems more like he wants it to be an original story using elements from the whole series, rather than a direct adaptation of any one game

yes, but I guess by that he meant storyline (mgs1 story, phantom pain incident etc) and not characters and relations between them. Like I can't imagine MGS withouth the whole Big Boss being bad/good, solid being his clone/son and plot twists coming with this.

When I think about this now this could be like Star Wars trilogy lol, like in 1st movie there is snake fighting with big boss, and in 2nd there is a huge plot twist like "I am like almost your father but not really, you are my clone" and in 3rd "liquid is something like your brother" lmao
