Oct 11, 2023 Currently doing a rewatch of the Final Destination Series. First one is still a fun movie. 2 has to be one of the more solid sequels from the genre, and having Ali Larter return was a nice touch. After FD I'm thinking of the SAW franchise since the new one just came out. @Michael Myers what's on your movie list for this month?
Oct 12, 2023 “Cinematic universe” worries me though, especially since they’re planning it before anything has been made. The only one that worked for a while was Marvel and even that isn’t working anymore. It usually results in s--- being forced in in order to “connect” everything even though it actually might ruin it
Oct 12, 2023 Nice man! I also watched part 1 & 2 FD a few weeks ago. Loved that Clear returned indeed! Also (re)watched: Urban Legend Scary Movie 4 Freaky You're Next Final Destination, Final Destination 2 Incident in a Ghostland Cabin in the Woods Happy Death Day Truth or Dare Halloween 2007 Get Out Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark The Shining Happy Death Day 2u Evil Dead Rise Friday the 13th Annabelle Annabelle: Creation Scream 2, the Strangers Got like 25 still to watch this month Shared my thoughts on all of them the last few pages, gonna add a few reviews in a minute
Oct 12, 2023 A cinematic universe is when all the movies get connected together and the storylines lead into each other. When handled poorly (like it is 90% of the time) it can often make it so you have to watch a ton of movies to understand the new one. It also can result in things being put into movies that don’t need to be there in order to force the connection between movies
Oct 12, 2023 Hmm yeah I get it now. However if they release one movie at a time you can just keep up. But, Halloween shouldn't be overly complicated. Halloween 6 w that Thorn s--- was bs. Just have a spooky halloween vibe and some decent story and I'm good as a Halloween fanboy lmao. Not sure if they should bring back Michael though... that would be kinda lame. But dunno what else they can do either. Ends is my true ending though.
Oct 12, 2023 Yeah, kinda wish A24 would’ve won the bid. They make really interesting s---. They could’ve done something creative. Didn’t Miramax already own the rights to Halloween before?
Oct 12, 2023 Seems like they did yeah. I guess this means they can bring Michael back but also make some spin offs until then. Could be great, or trash. I still have to finish Nun 2 for example
Oct 12, 2023 I finished the rest of the Final Destination movies today. Here are some thoughts. Final Destination 3: This is still a fun one, but you definitely notice the dropoff from 1 & 2. The roller coaster being the beginning incident was always one of my more favorite ones in the series. Seems like it would be the most likely aside from the plane crash in 1. The girls getting fried in the tanning bed is one of my favorite deaths in the series. It does lose points for not having the coroner/Candyman make a cameo. 6/10 Final Destination 4: Definitely the worst one of the series. The beginning incident at the NASCAR race is pretty silly even by Final Destination standards. I know it was mainly done for 3D but idk. No memorable deaths in the movie, in fact there's really nothing memorable about the movie at all. Again, no coroner/Candyman cameo. The acting in this made 3 look like a Scorsese film. I'm surprised someone managed to get 5 greenlit after this one. 2/10 Final Destination 5: This felt like a return to form in many ways. The deaths were gnarly and memorable in all the ways you'd want in a FD movie. From the guy falling off the acupuncture table, the girl splitting herself in half in a botched gymnastics routine, and the girl getting her eye and hand burned to a crisp by the laser eye machine. The coroner/Candyman made a return cameo too, which was a nice touch. Courtney B Vance was good as the agent, nice to see him get roles still. The twist at the end where the survivors of 5 ending up on flight 180 was well done. 7/10
