Oct 13, 2023 I wish they committed at least once to one of the killer hand offs, they bitched out by not keeping Jaime or Corey around and I think those would've been easy ways to do something without Michael
Oct 13, 2023 There are some good parts and the first movie is decent but The Conjuring and every movie associated with it is super overated
Oct 13, 2023 I watched The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It once and thought it was pretty generic tbh, can barely remember what happened. I guess it wasn’t completely terrible though
Oct 13, 2023 Yeah I agree but then they should have left out Michael completely in Ends. I mean.... Corey had to be killed by Michael after he stole his mask tbhhh
Oct 13, 2023 I feel like people have to be Christians/believe in demons to actually be scared of these movies. No disrespect to anyone but I always saw them in the same light as bigfoot and slasher villains.
Oct 13, 2023 Possibly, I think coming at an agnostic point of view ghost/demon movies work on me due to the fear of the unknown. But it's all down to execution, like The Exorcist s----s on every Conjuring movie cause it's not shot like an action movie and let's it actually feel real lol. Gonna be seeing the new Exorcist in a couple hours now, hope it's good!
Oct 13, 2023 Nah that's not really true. You don't have to be (truly) religious to be creeped out by ghosts. And its mostly the jump scares and intense moments that make a movie creepy. But I agree with your last point: The Strangers is just about humans, and its really creepy the same way a haunted house movie can be. Its just that most slashers aren't that scary.
Oct 13, 2023 The og Exorcist is a great point. Only demonic movie that creeped me out a bit. That cream of mushroom soup still holds up today.
Oct 13, 2023 s--- about humans seems scarier to me because we know they are real and live amongst them.
Oct 13, 2023 Spoiler: List Aight watched a few the past few days: The Strangers A perfect example of a haunted house / creepy movie without having to use supernatural beings. The stalking, knocking on the door, getting in and out without them noticing... saw this movie like 4 times already but its still good and creepy. The kills were just to finish it, the psychological torture was the true goal. Great, great movie. 8.5/10 The Strangers 2: Prey at Night Where the first part was mostly without a soundtrack and relied mostly on the silence and psychological torment this is more about violence. There was one time the knocking and creeping, and then straight for the kills. However I must say, I love the score! And I love the use of 80's (?) music it does give it a creepy vibe. Why the h--- the mother didn't fight back was just realllly f---ing stupid, but other than that and the overly dramatic ending, I like this a lot. Dope sequel. 7.5/10 Scream 2 Speaking of sequels: I always watch part 1 around Halloween, so I started with part 2. It's close to quality of the first one except I prefer the characters of the first one over the second. Except the 4 main characters. Also woodsboro > windshor college. The story of Billy's mom is a little weird I guess, but it makes more sense than most stories. Also a nice touch w the theatre scenes. But its an enjoyable slasher, and yeah the Scream franchise is literally the only one where w 6 movies they still haven't (really) f----- up! 7.7/10 Scream 3 Probably a little unpopular, but I like this one. It is a little far fetched to suddenly have a long lost brother, let alone him being responsible for everything lol. However, they always said Sidneys mother had a secret life so they kinda used this nicely. I think its more stupid that, after 3, they suddenly decided to completely ignore Roman until he's suddenly mentioned in Scream 6. Same as the quick 'Mark' mention (the cop Sidney probably married, but wasn't even mentioned in Scream 4). The whole Hollywood stuff was a nice change of scene, which is what keeps this franchise fresh. Didn't really care for the side characters, but I felt the same way about that in part 2. Decent ending to a trilogy, despite its flaws. They could have made this movie more important by not ignoring it. 7/10
Oct 13, 2023 Yeah I meant that, whether its a human, a ghost, a demon, or a vampire.. its all about the execution. A jump scare is a jump scare. Could be friends pranking it can still make you jump up lol. And a ghost creeping in a house can be just as creepy as some strangers stalking. You know what I mean? But yes the idea of people breaking in is more realistic I agree.
Oct 13, 2023 @BIGFOOT @Justin Trudeau and others that have seen it Spoiler: Exorcist Believer It has been 4 days since I watched it and I'm still not really sure what to think of it. It's impossible not to compare it to the original obviously. The things that I liked where the return of Chris McNeil and, obviously, the surprise at the end: Regan! But when we saw her pics and the constant mentions, I kinda expected her to show up. I think she will be back for the second one, I hope at least. I also think it was cool that they had 2 girls, and the scenes right after their possession (like the bathroom scene) were pretty creepy. But the problem was, imo, that the time between the possession and the exorcism was so short. I wanted more creepy scenes of how Katherine and Angela were getting worse. With Regan we got to see her getting more creepy every scene. I did however like the throwback of Angela cursing at the nurses (like Regan did) and the voice of the original demon. Especially where Chris met possessed Katherine. And yeah the throwbacks and hommage in general were really cool. But it took soooo long for something interesting to happen. And when it finally got good, it was over quickly and they went to the exorcism. Lol'd at how the priest got in as the big savior and after 10 seconds got his head turned 180 degrees. The church scene w Katherine was nice too. But what I didn't like where the many, too long and way too dramatic monologues lol. Especially by that woman (neighbor) that did the exorcism. I kinda felt bad for Katherine because she had such a------ parents and didn't make it but I still don't get why she was suddenly dead. Maybe Angela's dad was suddenly a 'believer' and that is what saved her. So yeah it definitely had it moments, but also a lot of filler dialogue. The whole opening scene was also kinda pointless. The exorcism itself was also weird even if it had some good effects. The girls did an excellent job btw! But my main question is: how are they gonna build on this story? Will the focus be on Angela again? Or on Regan? Or are they gonna do the same as w Halloween and have some new villain/angle? I'm not really sure how to rate this since I need to see it again when its available for download or on dvd. But I think its gonna be around a 6. Which ofcourse can be higher or lower after a second watch.
Oct 13, 2023 In an effort to bridge the gap between @Michael Myers and @FiveOh1's interests I'd like to inform you that these figurines exist for some reason.
