Sep 29, 2024 Man, had a good streak yesterday and today so far! Truth or Dare I really like the fact that It Follows, Smile and ToD have a similar idea. A curse that follows you till you're dead, and you can pass it on to other people. This movie is about a deadly game that you can 'pass on' by inviting other people to play. Imo this is movie is pretty original and very good. Love that it combines people being forced to spill their darkest secrets, and doing stupid and embarrassing things. The cast is doing a good job and they all have a backstory which makes you care for most of them. Also like the ending, it does hint at a possible sequel someday. Even if it kinda ruined getting a way out of it, they will find a loophole then, if it's the same cast. Great movie! 7.7/10 Annabelle 2: Creation Since I seen this a few times already, I'll start with this one and watch Annabelle later. This is a prequel after all. It also perfectly ends where the other movie starts, so that's great. Especially because I already know the twist. Man, what an amazing job does the lead actress (playing Janice). First as Janice, a broken and sad girl, and later the creepy as h--- demon. This movie is part of the Conjuring universe but to me this is the best one out of all so far. Main reason is that it doesn't waste time on the ghostbusters bs (the camera's, recording, media hype) like the original movies do, same as Insidious btw. I like Ed and Lorraine, but their stoty takes up too much time. This movie is kept smaller and more time to focus on the main story. I love everything about this movie: it's creepy, some fun jumpscares and makes you really empathize with the characters. For me the best haunted house movie I can remember seeing. 8.7/10 It Follows To me definitely the one that inspired movies like Truth or Dare and Smile a little too. But it also reminds me a lot of Halloween; the score, the neighborhood, it really has that OG Halloween feeling. Also the lead being in class seeing the monster outside reminds me of it. It's not clear when this movie takes place. They have cellphones, but the cars seem from year before that. I think it's intentional. I would have liked to know the origin story of it, but on the other hand I don't want movies to waste so much time on finding out the story. This one is slow at times, but you know the creature can show up any time so it's always creepy. The 'supernatural STD' is kinda weird but also so random it's funny. Again, great movie! 8/10 Sorority Row I haven't seen the movie this is based on (House on Sorority Row) so I went in with zero expectations. This movie is just... slasher fun. The characters are very funny; one is a f---ing b----, the other a losertype, one with a conscience. It makes for a funny dynamic, and some of the kills are very creative. Also the prank leading up to the events was very cool. One thing I dislike was the killer reveal. It was very far fetched and made not a lot of sense to me. Anyway, with this movie you shouldn't think, and you shouldn't look at this movie as a faggy critic, just enjoy the fun or don't watch it! 6.7/10
Sep 29, 2024 Yeah they never had better ones imo. Characters being the killers I mean Last ones are so f---ing lame (richies dad lol) even if I love the movie itself
Sep 29, 2024 Aight the 2 I watched today so far: Evil Dead Rise Second time watching this. It has been ages since I've last seen the original movies and the 2013 remake is also on my list to watch for the 1st time this october. Love the throwback to the OG w the cabin scene at the beginning. The rest of the movie, sometimes it is a little over the top lol. Instead of subtle scares and creepy moments this movie goes full on gross and violence at times. I have to say when the possessed people speak its pretty creepy lol. And the book, the records, loved those parts. The last 15 minutes are a little too much gross to me instead of scary, but it was well done. Great performance of all characters btw! The first 10 minutes I had a huge eyeroll when the they/them called something 'cultural insensitive' but thank god that was just once. Liked it even more than the last time! 7.5/10 Exorcist: Believer It's not often that I change my mind on a movie, and even if it's not a complete 180... I liked this a lot more than the first time watching this. It obviously has the same flaws as then; they build up the possession very rushed imo. The church scene was fantastic, the scene where Angela turns on the light was creepy, the scene with Chris and Katherine was fun too. But that kinda was it, they were in the hospital after that. Could have had more imo. I also still think the neighbor (nurse) was such a boring character with her monologues lol. The scene in the hospital was dope though. Another stupid thing; the demon knew Chris, had the exact same voice, but in the end wasn't Pazuzu but another? Weird. But these things didn't bother me as much this time as it did before (especially the monologues). The first hour of the movie, loved it. The exorcism scene was a bit too long and the preachy stuff was a bit meh, but to be fair the OG had this too. I loved the performance of both girls, they did well as their own and demonic selves. The 'trick' at the end was kinda sad though; I was happy Angela made it but sad for Katherine, especially the scene where she got dragged to h---.. Chris McNeil was in here for nostalgia, and she did great, but didn't add that much either. Loved seeing Regan at the end!! I kinda hoped that the story would continue with her, but it seems like the sequel for this is canceled. Anyway, I think its good, better than before, but not great. 7/10
Sep 30, 2024 I forgot to mention my friend and I bought Scream graphic tees not too long ago. We are bonding more over the Scream franchise it’s pretty cool. It’s fun to introduce someone to something and see them become passionate about it.
Sep 30, 2024 Scary Movie 2 It had been years since I last seen this. Still think they did a great job taking several horror movies and others and turn it into a parody. The first one will always be the best by far imo. Great job mocking Scream and I Know What You Did Last Summer. Second is the 3rd one with The Ring being the main focus. As for part 2, I love the Exorcist opening. And, especially for nostalgic reasons, I still liked most of it. But to be honest, the childish toilet humour does age badly lol. Some scenes the same joke takes too long (the bird having a dumb fight 3 times, the poop/fart stuff). The one good thing is that this is made before the woke era started so they make jokes about everything. Fun movie but one of the weaker in the franchise. 6/10 Evil Dead (2013) So, finally watched this one too. I can kinda copy past most what I said about Evil Dead Rise, but I do like that one more. The characters in this movie are a lot less likable imo and this one has even more blood/disgusting stuff instead of actual scares. The first hour I really liked; the people getting possessed, slowly becoming crazy, that was creepy. But the last half our or so its just people cutting off arms, getting covered in a lot of blood and yeah I don't really see how thats enjoyable lol. It's not scary, and its too fake to actually have shock value imo. Rise also had that but just the last 10-15 minutes. So yeah this was okay but not the 'scariest movie ever' as it says on the cover lol. 6.2/10
Sep 30, 2024 I’m making slow progress on it due to time constraints, I’m only on episode 5 of season 1. It’s a great show so far though. I can’t believe I didn’t watch this years ago
Sep 30, 2024 Season 2 is a drag, just a heads up. S3 is my favorite but that released around the time when I started watching so I'm biased. I would have to rank them S3 S4 S1 S2 S4 introduces a villain that reminds me of a certain favorite slasher of mine, so that's why is ranks high for me
Oct 1, 2024 Curse Of Chucky Alright, so since it was announced that the Chucky TV show was being cancelled (and we likely get a new movie out of that), I wanted to give this movie a rewatch. THIS is the type of Chucky I want to see on the big screen. Sure, I enjoyed the TV show, but sometimes I want more scary than goofy Chucky. My all time favorite Child's Play/Chucky movie is Child's Play 2, h--- it's in my top 5 slashers ever, and I think a large part of that is due to Chucky having a good mix of genuine creep factor and humor. This movie reminds me a lot of the first two Child's Play movies, as it feels like a mix of them. You don't see Chucky do a lot in this movie until a bit into it (like part 1), but once he starts, he gets a lot of screen time (like part 2). Great effects and puppeteering as usual with these movies, even the CGI Chucky walking down the stairs looks good. You can tell it was a direct to DVD movie in terms of budget, considering a large majority of this movie takes place in one location, but they make it work. Fiona Dourif is amazing, she always kills it as Nica. Truly forgot how GOOD this movie is. Def worth the watch, sort of a soft reboot in a way so it wouldn't be a bad way to be introduced to the franchise. I'm not huge on how he looks for the first half of the movie though, but once that look is gone, I LOVE how the doll looks. Like I said, I hope when Chucky 8 does release, it is a similar vibe to this one, Child's Play 2, and Season 1 of the show. 8/10
Oct 1, 2024 Yess glad you joined me bro! Also 100% agree. After the 'fun' movies Bride and Seed this was a nice return to the scary chucky movies! Love the twist at the end too. Cult I liked a lot less tbh but still fun.
