Oct 21, 2024 **IN ADVANCE, THIS WILL BE A LONGER POST CONTAINING ALL OF THE HORROR MOVIES I WATCHED TODAY, FEEL FREE TO SKIP TO THE END WHERE MY RATINGS ARE! ALL NEW RANKINGS WILL BE ITALICIZED LIKE I STARTED TO DO RECENTLY** Smile 2 (2024) [BONUS MOVIE] The family and I heard that Smile 1 was not a required watch for Smile 2, so we said f--- it and went to the theater to check this one out. I had been hearing great things, so I was pretty excited. People saying that it was better than the original smile and some high praising reviews admittedly had my hopes high. I am happy to say that excitement paid off! Holy s---, what a movie! As someone who has not seen the original Smile, I did not know what to expect, and honestly I feel like that made this experience what it was. Unfortunately, I knew what the Smile monster (demon?) looked like, so that kind of lost its "holy s---" factor when it revealed itself in this one. Naomi Scott was fantastic as the lead, I was engaged with the story the whole time and a large chunk of that was due to her acting. Obviously I will not spoil the ending, but it was such a what the f--- moment. I couldn't imagine THAT happening in front of me, and also the implications of what it sets up for part 3. Great movie, glad I caught it in theaters. 9/10 The Evil Dead (1981) Considered an all time classic, it was about time I gave this one a watch! I enjoyed it and thought it was a pretty good movie, but I wish I liked it more you know? The only movie from the Evil Dead franchise I had seen prior to tonight was Evil Dead Rise from last year, which I found to be a great movie. Maybe I just hyped myself up too much for it, but it did not hit for me like I wish it did. Bruce Campbell was great as expected and the practical effects throughout (and especially at the end). The way I'm talking about this movie makes me sound like I didn't like it, but I really did! Maybe it is just one of those movies that I need to give another watch to really appreciate more. Not bad, just expected more out of this horror classic! 7/10 Evil Dead II (1987) HERE is where I guess all of the hype is, and I can say that it lives up! This movie is really just Ash going batshit for most of the runtime and then Spoiler ending up back in medieval times . I f----- with it! It connected back to the original film in a really nice way and once again had masterclass acting from Bruce Campbell. This movie does everything the first one does, but better. I can see why this one is seen as a horror classic. I for sure can't wait for the next time that I watch these films back to back! I feel like I will be able to catch a lot more and maybe get more enjoyment out of the first movie. In turn, that may even raise the score of this movie! Great time and a great watch! 8/10 Dolls (1987) Dolls come to life during a thunderstorm and commit murder...hmmm. Anyways, I heard about this movie while watching something about the Child's Play/Chucky movies (who would have guessed) and decided I should give it a watch sometime. The end result, eh. The dolls moving look good and have that 80's charm, there's some cool practical effects/makeup too, and the relationships between the characters are established well, but the rest is just meh. This is just an average spooky movie with a concept that was done way better one year later by you know who. Not an awful movie, but not a good one either. First movie in this marathon that I would consider perfectly average. Not too much to say. Not sure if I can recommend it, but it is an easy watch at a measly hour and 17 minutes if you decide to give it a watch. 5/10 Oct 2024 Horror Binge Ranking: 1. Scream (1996) - 10 2. Oct 21, 2024 Really? For me its by far the best tbh I think it already goes downhill after the first one. Part 3 is the 3rd best imo but also think the whole teenage superhero stuff is f---ing corny lol. But I might confuse that with 4....
Oct 21, 2024 When I rank the Myers movies I don't usually count 3 since its a different story. So for that part 4 and 2018 are second. However H3 is great!!
Oct 21, 2024 So I already bought the Ghostface mask but now I’m just buying the whole a--- outfit. I lowkey could be the actual killer in Scream 7.
Oct 21, 2024 I think it’s an okay movie. It would feel better if it wasn’t connected to the Halloween franchise, but at the same time if it wasn’t connected nobody would’ve watched it. It is what it is. What I really remember from that movie is bro was really getting it on.
Oct 21, 2024 Well the original idea was to have a halloween themed movie every year, with no connection to others. But people were mad so part 4 and beyond was again with Myers. So its a stranger in a whole franchise lol.
Oct 21, 2024 Ohhhhh that’s right. I think that would just confuse people tbh. I could understand it more if they only did 1 movie with Michael Myers, but they did 2 movies so they set that precedent already
Oct 21, 2024 October/Halloween is one of the dopest times of the year. Sometimes I wish it could be year-round but then it wouldn’t be as special
Oct 21, 2024 True. JC was kinda forced to make a second one because of its succes. Then he returned to his original idea but was then yet again forced to bring back Michael. Don't think people were really fair when it comes to H3 just because they expected to see me lol
Oct 21, 2024 Oh you’d love it here during this time of year. The decorations people put up in front of their houses are awesome. I saw a huge skeleton with green and orange lights shining on it the other night
Oct 21, 2024 Yeah I'm not jealous of many american things but Halloween... here there's only (very) few people with Halloween decorations and there are also no halloween parties or whatever. Just in big cities perhaps.
