Nov 3, 2024 Stop talking like some semi intellectual Janky! Jk bro We are spoiled either way though. As for horror movies specifically: we have new creative like Get Out, Talk 2 Me, Smile, Late Night w the Devil that mostly stay away from nostalgia and also movies like Halloween remake, Scream for the fans. I think its perfectly balanced. But I do think Halloween Ends was a great effort to try something new (execution and timing being not good) for example
Nov 3, 2024 Yeah I agree we're hitting a good balance lately so I've been pretty happy, like I could be pissy about new ideas but I'm not gonna act like the new Exorcist movie and a f---in Superman movie aren't some of my most anticipated things coming out lmao
Nov 3, 2024 Nah the David Gordon Green trilogy got cancelled and Mike Flanagan is doing his own Exorcist movie instead
Nov 3, 2024 Oh s--- I remember someone said that in here. But I guess I tried to forget that because my expectations are very low sadly.. btw I just read somewhere that Deceiver is still coming in 2026 now? Also even if I think Believer is okay, it wasn't exactly a reboot because it had zero connection to the original lol
Nov 3, 2024 They might have reworked Deceiver into the Mike Flanagan movie and are no longer positioning it as a sequel to believer cause I have no idea why they'd do 2 movies in the franchise at the same time, I also usually have little faith but it's one of my favorite horror directors who already made an extremely good show centered on religion so hopes are high for me
Nov 3, 2024 I feel like I’m the only person who really likes the OG Halloween 2, I think it’s just a slight step down from Halloween ‘78
Nov 3, 2024 It definitely could’ve been better. From what I remember the whole movie is just spent in a hospital so that coupled with the way the movie is written makes it feel like there isn’t much sense of progression. I think I had that criticism when I first watched it although I still found it entertaining enough to like it. I wouldn’t call it great either but with the overall quality of this franchise in mind I still think it’s one of the better movies in it
Nov 3, 2024 The thing is, the biggest complaint I have with Believer is the preachy monologues. And its not that much. I watched House of Usher and I liked it but that also has a big portion of that. And I watched Midnight Mass but I stopped after like 5 episodes because of the endless boring monologue s---. The original Exorcist sure has religion as a theme too, but above all its a scary horror film. I'm realllly scared that a Flanagan version of the Exorcist is gonna be 70% pretentious and boring s--- and almost no actual horror.
Nov 3, 2024 If you watch it right after part 1 its a nice continuation. It has the same vibe, the music is great and like I said it has a solid end of the story. That's why I think its for sure above average. There is no real progression because its a simple cash grab, which JC was forced to make. Not that I care in this case, its fine. But the hospital stuff was too long and boring to me. I definitely prefer the ones I mentioned before
Nov 3, 2024 I do really like the continuation aspect. It does make sense now that you call it a cash grab though. It kinda does feel more like Halloween 1.5 than an actual Halloween 2. It’s like story DLC for a video game
Nov 3, 2024 Word, to me Halloween 4 and 2018 are the actual sequels. Halloween 2 is just an extention of part 1 and does good. Just wish it focussed more on Michael in Haddonfield himself instead of the boring hospital staff. For that I think Kills did a better job continuing the same night. Aside from the fact that it was not needed at all.
Nov 3, 2024 Original and 2018 are the best imo. Both are so good. Scream 5 - The movie where everyone gets life threatening injuries and keeps going on like it's nothing lol they even fried Amber like a fry and the b---- still got up like it's nothing. Long Legs - Just finished it and I feel mad disappointed, that's it? I don't think it's anything special tbh.
Nov 3, 2024 It's homegirl shooting herself that ruins it, but we've seen Americans almost blow they own head at the shooting range before
Nov 3, 2024 Word, about 2018 as well! Yeah its also so f---ing dumb. Tara got stabbed like how many times? Surviving is one thing, but being able to walk, let alone fight like 2 days later lmaooo.
Nov 3, 2024 Also Marion saying this is for loomis... why? Did they forget that Loomis was fine after Halloween 1? And ofc the gun not working. So lame lol But the music and kills were cool. The best parts are before and after these scenes though with the goat Kyle Richards
Nov 3, 2024 And Gale getting shot. I don't remember 6 having so much dumb stuff. Will rewatch next weekend.
