Currently watching the first Scream movie. It’s cool how they mention the Halloween franchise and the Nightmare on Elmstreet franchise. I like how it also gets right into the action with the phone call

Aight not on to the 'halloween' movies!

    The Fog

Around the time of Halloween 1, 2, and 3, John Carpenter also made this movie. Even if its not a halloween centered movie, it is similar as in being a small town story. I love those and I really wish JC would have kept the idea of making a new story every year like this one. Also the Fog has half the same cast as Halloween (Jamie Lee and her mom, Nancy Loomis, the one that played sherif Bracket, and Tom Atkins from Halloween 3). The story is simple, yet effective. Cast is great obviously and the score is again typical JC, amazing. The speciall effects are obviously very old but I don't mind that. Makes the movie more believable I guess. Anual watch for sure! 8/10

    Halloween 4

Said this last year; this one is so close to the original. Parts of it are a little rehashed maybe but most of the story is fresh, the kills are cool, Rachel and Jamie are great new leads and ofc Loomis >
Only thing is that Michael suddenly looks like a heavyweight champion lol. The ending is cool, but they decided not to continue that story so it doesn't really count I guess. Classic 8.5/10

Also, watching both new and old movies I discovered a huge pet peeve with a lot of modern movies.

The fact that the characters act like no normal human being would. Stupid monologues and oneliners when ur facing death lol.

Example; in Scream 5 Tara in the beginning says that she prefers movies like Babadook and It Follows. At the end, right after she shoots Amber, she says 'I still prefer the Babadook!'. Lol. I mean its obviously meant funny but no way anyone would say that at that moment.
Example 2; the cops in Scream 4 talk about how cops are always killed in slasher movies, except when you are Bruce Willis. When one of them gets stabbed in the head, right before he falls on his knees he says 'f--- Bruce Willis!!'... so f---ing lame.
Last one; in the new exorcist during the exorcism they are all close to being killed, yet they (expecially that annoying old woman that lives next door) keeps having long monologues, it was so f---ing stupid.

After watching the Fog and Halloween 4 I reallized that barely happens in the older (horror) movies and the characters talk way more like normal people.

And yes it also happens in other genres. Suits, Manifest, love both of them but half of the dialogues make zero sense.

    Rant over :)

    Halloween 3

Not gonna repeat what I already said above w the fog. Nice halloween related story and again a great score. I just wish they spent less time at that factory. Also the stonehedge thing was kinda silly. But the core story, turning masks into killing machines... pretty nice. Wish he would have done more of these. 7/10

    Scream 6

I can't express enough how much I like this franchise. From the first till the last minute its never boring. New ideas, the whole tribute thing was nice, FINALLY they mentioned Roman (altough ignored he was Sids brother / the mastermind behind it all smh, still stupid) and finally Tara was badass (@Marsh ). Again Mindy and Chad were a little annoying but glad they brought back Kirby, Gail was present (but why a selfish b---- again?) Her fight scene was awesome, glad she didn't die. The store scene was dope too. Killers a little lame but fine.
And of course, Samantha :emoji_heart: hot and badass.
The opening was also well done, they did a good job not to repeat the same s---. Great movie, please go on and let Sid and Gail live forever. 8/10

    Happy Halloween :emoji_jack_o_lantern:

    Haunt

A haunt(ed) house movie set on Halloween. The house is scarier than they thought... I loved it the first time so put it on my yearly halloween rewatch list. In all honesty the second time its a little more boring to me. Still a good movie though, the story is okay and the twist is also nice. 6.7/10

    Tales of Halloween

Definitely a yearly rewatch. It has 10 small stories that al focus on a halloween tradition or legend. Each segment is around ten minutes, some pay hommage to other horror movies (like, Friday the 31st lmao). I like some parts more than others, but most of them are fun/good. If you're looking for character development and some deep story, you can definitely skip this one. The good thing though about them being so short is that there is no build up and the 'action' starts right away! As a regular horror movie I don't think it would do so well, but as a movie that pays hommage to Halloween(traditions), its really awesome and I will keep it on my october 31st list! 7.5/10

    Trick r Treat

This is, in a way, similar to Tales of Halloween. Except, in TOH the only real connection is that it all takes place in the same town. Other than that they are isolated stories. Here there are 4 stories that are connected. Each story takes place on the night of Halloween, and the characters cross paths during that night. Here, again, its all about honoring the Halloween traditions and what happens if you don't. Don't expect some real character developments here either, but this movie does keep you more hooked since its an ongoing story. They switch in between and give clues about the others. Again, a great hommage! 8.2/10

    Okay
    time for the main events!

That's what I loved about it lol, doesn't work for everybody but I think horror and comedy mix super well together and Wes Craven was a master at it.
