Oct 31, 2023 The Five Nights At Freddy's movie was just fine, feels like a good gateway horror movie for kids who don't want to watch something like Goosebumps anymore but are also a bit too young for the good stuff.
Oct 31, 2023 Yeah I liked it too, I know he wasn’t meant to be taken super seriously. I actually kinda missed him in the sequel. I like how meta the Scream movies get with the humor
Oct 31, 2023 Alrightt Halloween day is over here in 2 hours. Still one to go, but after Tales and Trick r Treat I watched: Halloween The classic. Not only is it a great slasher, that fathered many others. Its also THE halloween movie people will always mention and remember. It probably has the best soundtrack a horror movie will ever have, and its just so d--- good. Dunno what else to add, classic! 10/10 Halloween 2018 Very good requel. It has a new story, yet follows up on the ongoing as well. Characters are mostly good, some fun moments and some very creepy ones too. The podcast s--- was a good start, but I'm glad they got killed off. I don't want that pretentious bs too much in a Halloween movie. Great twist on the doctor being completely opposite of Loomis. The ending was great. Wish it was the definitive ending though (like, in the last movie or something), since all the work eventually was for nothing lol. But I got zero complaints for this one. 8.5/10 Halloween Kills There are so many things wrong with this one... people are so f---ing stupid. Michael killed 11 firefighters, survived many gunshots and a fire, but hey lets beat him up with some sticks! And the worst part, after he survives all that... lets not run but just try it again! Lol. Also people going in his house alone thinking they will beat him alone. The hospital scene where they chase the umbrella man was kinda clever, making people go crazy over their fear and anger. But LOL @ people not knowing what he looks like. He had a mask in 1978 but since them he has gone to trail, been on tv a 100 times. Especially people like Tommy and Bracket should have known that it was not him right away... just stupid. Also I get that they needed Karen dead for shock effect, but why the f--- would Karen go upstairs to that room? And how did Michael get in unseen when its crawling w police? However, I can get past that and some other stupid s---. The only things that truly annoyed me are these: - bringing back characters to add.... nothing. Marion and Bracket were back. Cool idea, but the only thing they added was EVIL DIES TONIGHT! Marion with a gun that blocked, and Bracket that made the joke about having a good scare like in the OG. Useless, and it kinda ruined their characters a little to me. Made no sense. At least the other ones (Lindsey, Lonnie, Tommy) added something. - speaking of Tommy; even if he added something to the movie, it was terrible. How did he go from that scared little kid to the 'big man in town'. Everyone looked up to him like he was some superman. "Tommy will get him!!!" Lmao. His attitude was so annoying through the movie. And at the end, the big man ran crying to Laurie like a little lap dog. "What do I do???" When he finally confronts Michael.... he brings a f---ing basebal bat. Yeah he has been beaten up, shot, stabbed, but yeah swinging a bat at him and fight him one on one is gonna do it! All the hype and he goes out like that. Lol. As much as I hate the Halloween 6 storyline, Paul Rudd did a MUCH better job as Tommy. Not that I blame the actor though, but the writers. At least they made Lindsey (with the same actress also as 40 years ago) a really, really good character. So yeah aside from those 2 points, I can get past all the bs. Does it have character growth? No. Does it really movie the story? No. But its 100 minutes of fun and excitement, which makes it a great addition to the franchise for me. So many nice easter eggs like the silver shamrock masks. And the score is great again! 7.7/10 On to Ends!
Oct 31, 2023 Man. Halloween Ends literally ended at 23.58. If I played the credits it would have been exactly november 1st when Halloween 'ended' here. Spooky. Until next year, great movies! Aight so Halloween Ends, @jankland @Ripper Roo I know we talked about this before. What I mentioned above about Kills, is pretty much the same as last year. There are no new insights, its just a very enjoyable Halloween movie if ur not looking for something new or character development. Despite the fact that I do have a few issues with it (the 2 I described) I can honestly get passed the other stupid s--- and just sit back and enjoy it, a lot. That won't change. However, I've seen Ends I think 4 times now, and every time I watch it I change my mind about certain aspects. It keeps growing on me, for better or worse I wanna add. I was kinda angry speechless walking out of the theatre the first time, like what the f--- was this. The next few times I started to appreciate it more and I liked it. Now, there are a few things I changed my mind on, both good and bad: Michaels presence (or, absence): like many people I was mad that Michael wasn't in the movie very much. However, he kinda was. From the first second of the movie, his presence was all over it even if he didn't show up. The opening scene, which I love, the entire time it was waiting for Michael to show and k--- the kid. Especially after he said michael only kills babysitters. Then, when Corey was trapped, again 'well, lets go Michael!' Then the opening credits started after the accident.... after Laurie's intro, they were talking about him on the radio, etc. So yeah he was there haunting the town way before we saw him. The constant thought of him returning was more scary than he eventually was in this movie! So I kinda changed my mind on that. Second, after a day of watching Halloween movies, I noticed that this one feels way less like one. It isn't until one hour and 10 minutes (!!!) when it's october 31st. There are some cool scenes, like Michael killing the cop, and the nurse at the house, but that was before Halloween. Does it make the scenes worse? Nah. Its just a matter of principle lol. Also there were barely any Halloween elements in the movie at all, aside from the opening and a few shots of kids trick or treating, and the pumpkin Laurie shot at the end. I wish they would have toned down on the romance stuff a little the first hour, and went to october 31st sooner. Could have had Michael and Corey team up at first (to go after the Nurse/doctor) and later Corey alone. I know it wouldn't fit the story, but yeah it does kinda bother me that a Halloween movie doesn't really feel like one aside from the characters and a few aspects. Things that I didn't change my mind on; - Lindsey. She was so great in Kills. Glad she returned, but she did literally nothing. A few card games and being a bartender. Why didn't she help killing Michael.. or at the VERY least be present at the procession. It was so strange that she wasn't there after all she went through with Michael and Laurie. I mean I guess I'm glad she survived but why not give her role more meaning like in Kills? - Michaels strength: at the very beginning Willie said Michael is not a man, he got stabbed, shot and he just got up and killed a bunch of people. Laurie said he gets stronger when he kills. When he killed the cop, it was shown that he got his 'power' back. After that he killed that nurse without breaking a sweat. I don't have issues with him living in the sewers weakened, it makes sense that he had to recover. But the scene where corey beats him up and steals his mask....? That was just disrespectful. I mean if he just stole it or caught him by surprise, fine. But some lame kid winning a 1 on 1? Nah, not possible. Luckily he's the one that killed Corey in the end, but it makes zero sense how he was so weak there. - the ending: a good conclusion, where they finally k--- Michael for real. Good that Laurie was the one to do it, with help from Alyson. - Coreys story: I think its cool, to have Michael live on as a trauma, a town looking for a new Boogeyman.. after the accident people blaming Corey, kids bullying him eventually driving him mad. All good! Except one major thing: you don't do this to end a f---ing trilogy. Everyone was waiting for Michael, so nobody really cared for Coreys story. They should have ended Michaels story, and then slowly introduce him as a new villain. Maybe a new movie following up on that. But now, they introduced him, killed him off in the same movie and then rushed to end the whole Laurie / Michael thing. That's a shame honestly both for Laurie/Michael and Coreys story. - also, laurie's theme playing after the opening credits >>>>> All things considered, its fine. So many things I would change. The first half is pretty boring because it tries to build a new story, which is not a good idea for the 3rd and last movie... second part is cool but still filled w filler scebes. I guess its mostly the frustration of the movie not chosing a clear direction, that I hate. Giving it a 6.7 now, its still overhated tbh.
Oct 31, 2023 Yeah I still really like it for what it is, I think the only thing they needed to do was introduce Corey in Kills to make the relationship make more sense. Also there's a piece of me that wish they didn't b---- out and they just made Corey the new killer, it's the same thing they did with Jaime and I wish the franchise wouldn't backpedal itself into a corner everytime they take a risk, especially considering they're already making another Halloween again when Michael's body isn't even cold yet lmao.
Nov 1, 2023 Agree with your first comment. Don't thinkt the Jamie comparison is really fair here even though I understand what you mean. Halloween 4 ended w Michael 'dead' and Jamie stabbing her mom. It was all set up to have her be the new killer. They chickened out and Halloween 5 just ignored all that. Really a b---- move I agree. However, Kills ended with a huge cliffhanger: Michael killing Karen.. they couldn't just ignore that and leave him out of Ends lol. Laurie needed her revenge and the story needed to end. That is what I meant with no clear direction: was it the start of a new story of the end of the other one? They tried to combine it and in the end both stories had to be rushed. Wich is a shame really. Like, it wasn't possible to have a whole movie about Michael killing again, so I get that they tried something new. But it wasn't done properly. I still think, had they introduced Corey earlier, and just extended Kills 15 minutes so Laurie could have her revenge on a weakened Michael... that story could have been brought to a closure. And instead of Ends, they could have started a new storyline based on Corey with one or even more movies. Like, Michaels curse living on after his death. So fans (like myself) wouldn't be waiting for him. I know its lazy to just have a copycat but if done well, it had potential. The best way though was to end it after Halloween 2018. Great movie, satisfying ending. Glad we got 2 more movies especially Kills, but storywise would have been the best maybe.
Nov 1, 2023 Oh yeah I meant to end Michaels story first and don't have Corey off himself if they really wanted to do sequel bait, but I get trying to end all threads it's just a bit silly to do when someone is obviously gonna do something with the franchise immediately after the trilogy ends lol
Nov 1, 2023 I'm really curious what they are gonna do tbh. I mean if they wait a decade and do some sort if reboot nobody will be mad. But if they gonna milk this in the coming years... I think ends was (despit its flaws) a proper ending and they need to let it rest. Jamie lee already said she isn't gonna return. But I do wonder what their plans are. Please no pretentious prequel or some s--- lol. A new halloween related story would be fine without Michael perhaps.
Nov 1, 2023 Finished House of Usher btw, still sits at 3rd place for me, some stuff I didn't like nearly as much as Hill House or Midnight Mass but overall enjoyed it.
Nov 1, 2023 I think Hill House is my favorite but the more I think about it the more I think Midnight Mass has some of my favorite stuff in it. I find religion super interesting though but I can see it being extremely boring if someone isn't into that lol. Need to rewatch Bly Manor at some point
Nov 1, 2023 Just thought i'd stop by and drop some good films I haven't seen anyone mention in a while as well as an underrated 4th one. 1. The Descent 2. The Mist 3. Sinister 4. As Above, So Below
Nov 1, 2023 Finished Scream 3. While I think it’s decent, it’s definitely my least favorite so far. Scream and Scream 2 are kind of equally amazing in my mind. I thought the voice modulator in Scream 3 was kinda dumb. However, I did really like this dialogue in the movie: Sid - What’s your favorite scary movie? Detective Kincaid - My life.
Nov 2, 2023 Yeah I think its good but making Roman the mastermind of it all was maybe a bit too much. They mostly ignore that story in the other movies, same as the fact that he's sidneys brother. But it's still solid.
Nov 4, 2023 On my journey of watching the Scream movies, Scream 4 has to be the worst so far. I didn’t like any of these new characters at all. They’re all annoying or boring. The killers were not convincing to me. I didn’t enjoy this movie.
Nov 4, 2023 I like it, but understand why someone won't. Characters are indeed not as good as the 'original'. Very curious how u feel about 5 since it also has a lot of new ones. For me it's Scream 1 / Scream 5 Scream 2 / Scream 6 Scream 4 Scream 3
Nov 4, 2023 Yeah I mean it’s not a bad movie or anything like that. I’m kinda sick right now so maybe that made me a bit more negative than I normally would be. I like the ideas and the twists in the movie, but I just couldn’t get behind the new characters and their performances. Emma Roberts especially broke my immersion. Also, one thing I notice about these movies is the killers never bother to make sure the person they’re killing is actually dead lmao. They almost always stab in the torso and never in the neck or head. I’ll probably automatically like it more because it has Jenna Ortega in it lol Nice! I’ll have to see how our lists compare once I’m done with the series. For now the only thing I’d do is switch around 3 and 4, I just enjoyed 3 more
