Oct 11, 2017 "I don’t know how to describe it. It’s almost an alternative reality. It picks up after the first one and it pretends that none of the other [sequels] were made. It’s gonna be fun. There’s a really talented director and it was well-written. I’m impressed" - John carpenter So its not picking up after twoits picking up after 1?
Oct 12, 2017 I watched It Follows and Lights Out tonight. I really really liked It Follows. The way the entity moved so slowly and you’re sometimes not quite sure who it is was so simple and effective. Lights Out was good too but it relied on a few typical horror cliches. Not too much though. It was decent.
Oct 12, 2017 aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand my hype goes down this is dumb...Halloween 1 & 2 are the central dogma of the Halloween story that every one likes and was done well r-----s
Oct 12, 2017 Say what now? I don’t see how it can pretend Halloween 2 doesn’t exist and still bring back Jamie Lee Curtis. If you do bring her back you have to at least keep the fact that she’s his sister because that was introduced in 2 and it’s something that literally no one has forgotten.
Oct 12, 2017 On the subject of It Follows again. I wish more modern horror was like that. Barely any CGI and the entity most of the time looked like an ordinary human being. That to me is f---ing terrifying. Sometimes less is more.
Oct 13, 2017 Speaking of the Halloween franchise.. the new film DOES take place after 2 The others will not exist idk why it said after "1" maybe he meant, "after" 1..meaning the first 2, but in any event I read that it takes place after 2, do some googling.. I'm sure it can be found.
Oct 13, 2017 Yeah IF is really good Not sure about the new halloween hope its like another version of H20 but then like, 40 years later
Oct 13, 2017 John didn't want to do a second film, he was pressured to do so and came up with the whole sister thing. The first Halloween was initially called The Babysitter Murders, and Laurie was chosen because she dropped the keys off at the Myers house. It was as simple as that. People like to talk up Halloween like it's some great story, but that movie is almost all form. If anything f----- up the franchise, it was going deeper down the rabbit hole of Michael's mythology that was never supposed to exist in the first place. He's not a person, he's "the shape". Speaking of, I re-watched The Fog last night. Carpenter is the greatest.
Oct 13, 2017 Curse was the worst thing ever lol Also never watched the fog its also with jamie and the dude from halloween 3 right?
Oct 13, 2017 This is why i was wondering if this could be a thing? I mean he did say "first one" Halloween 2 ending gonna be a weird start point lmao *cue michael myers blown up* lmfaooooooo
Oct 13, 2017 Make no mistake. I don’t think Halloween should’ve ever had a sequel to begin with. But what I don’t understand is how you could possibly pretend 2 doesn’t exist all of a sudden. Is everyone just supposed to forget that Laurie is Michael’s sister now? That is just really really hard to retcon. I would understand if this was following the original and didn’t bring back JLC. But if you are you have to at least follow the second film because everyone is going to be really confused if she isn’t his sister anymore. I’m sure most casual fans don’t even remember that was introduced in 2 and not 1.
Oct 13, 2017 And yes I’m also aware there was never supposed to be a sequel. It was a one off thing that unexpectly was a huge hit and because it was there was bound to be a sequel. The ending was supposed to signify that Michael was exactly what Laurie said he was. The Boogeyman. His breathing still being heard while showing everywhere he had been in the film was implying he could be anywhere. I love that ending. One of the greatest ever. Unfortunately a sequel had to happen. But that being said 2 isn’t bad. It mostly recaptures the mood and atmosphere of the original. It did about as well as a sequel could have to a film that didn’t need one. And they had to give some reason as to why Michael would stalk Laurie all the way to the hospital she was taken to. The excuse of her dropping the key off is perfect for the original but wouldn’t have carried over into the sequel very well without some kind of reasoning.
Oct 13, 2017 I honestly couldn't care less about what happened in what movie. Gotta judge it on its own terms.
Oct 13, 2017 I always f---ing loved the opening of the sequel, from the ending of the original onward Edit: I SHOT HIM SIX TIMES!
Oct 13, 2017 Theyre coming for u barbara!! Perfect way to use that scene. I love Halloween 2 except the chase scene in the hospital tbh.
Oct 13, 2017 What about when shes on the pavement whimpering, waits til loomis goes into the doors of the hospital and THEN musters up a scream for help!!!
