Movies, especially horror movies are always full of questions... why did he do it? Why the f--- did she go looking where the creepy sound came from? But with all those questions, honestly, there's only one that's actually relevant.
A question, after all these years still haunts me..
    .....Is Tamara home???

    The Strangers

With that question this movie starts, after the relationship drama the first few minutes. Imagine being alone in a vacation home, no neighbours, no phone... and strange masked people are walking around and inside your house. No motive, no idea who they are and what they want. The idea alone gives me the creeps more than most horror/thriller movies. Mostly because its so realistic. And that is exactly the way the movie plays out. When the dude leaves for a while, I felt the tension when the strangers started teasing and terrorizing the woman. To be fair, that tension wears off when you've seen the movies a few times already, but still. The country songs they used really add to that creepy feeling. The fact that there's barely any violence until the end, but instead relies on making the viewer experience her fear.. and uncomfortable, is it's true strength imo. The movie is simple, yet super effective! 8/10

    The Strangers: Prey At Night

It is also called Strangers 2, as it technically is a sequel. But there is nothing that connects it to the first one. I heard they wanted to do that at first, bringing back the girl from part 1, but eventually didn't.
Aside from the 'strangers' the movies are also very different. Which is a good thing imo. The first one really went with the home invasion/stalking idea. No real violence happened until like the last 10 minutes. The creepy country songs really helped with that haunting vibe.
In Prey at Night the killers have a slightly different MO; the stalking is kept to a minimum and they go for the kills pretty quickly. Still, they managed to make this one very creepy. The score is really cool and the use of 80/90 music >>>
Kim Wilde's Cambodia and Kids in America are classics and the pool scene with Eclipse of My Heart was fantastic too. Very good use of music.
The kills, both from the strangers and the family were fun. The ending was a bit dramatic but again, that was intentional with the music.
Not sure how many people know this but it's a classic slasher to me. 7.8/10

Just downloaded the strangers remake, chapter one, will check that sometime this month.

A Nightmare On Elm Street (1984)
The first horror movie I ever watched at the age of 6! This movie will forever and always hold a special place in my heart, and overall it’s just fantastic! Freddy is genuinely terrifying in this one and has lots of great moments. Speaking of moments, a lot of iconic horror moments come from this movie. “I’m your boyfriend now Nancy”, the bathtub scene, the bedroom levitation, the extended arms from Freddy, 1…2…, Freddy’s laughing skull, etc etc. I can go on a tangent about this movie for forever, it’s a shame that Freddy got more silly from Part 4 onwards. This is the scariest Freddy has been, and probably will ever be. Robert recently doubled down on the fact he will never play Freddy again, and it breaks my heart, but makes sense. I even met the guy at a con when I was younger! Hopefully one day this franchise can come back swinging with someone who does the role of Freddy justice. I’m glad this movie is still able to be enjoyed 40 years after its release and has stood the test of time. Also, Nancy is one of the most badass final girls EVER. Absolutely love Heather’s performance as Nancy in every Elm Street movie she is in.

Spot on except for one thing; imo Freddy is even scarier in New Nightmare. Other than that I can't argue with anything, classic!!!

New Nightmare is f---ing fantastic. Now that you mention it, I agree! The trench coat was a dope touch, and the gloves are freaky. Definitely the scariest Freddy. That being the movie after Freddy’s Dead (one of the worst horror movies ever) is f---ing hilarious

True. But it wasn't a part of the franchise really of course. Really like the concept of Freddy invading the real world, creative as f---.
The fact that Robert Englund gets haunted by Freddy is absolutely genius!
My review for this will be up around Halloween because this is on the list the last few days, as it is one of my favorite horror movies OAT.

A Nightmare On Elm Street 5: The Dream Child (1989)
The dismay I felt when I paused the movie to see how much was left and there was still 40 minutes. I’m typing this out with 15 mins left still in the movie because I do not see how anything in these last few minutes will change my view on this movie. This is just so…boring. I made the right choice not watching this until now. Really the only thing this movie had to offer was the practical effects and set design, which is the case with every Elm Street entry. I will give it credit for how they brought Freddy back from the dead via
    Alice’s unborn child
    , better than the
    dog fire pissing
from part 4. Motorcycle k--- was dope, and the food k--- was grotesque. I don’t even know how to review this. Very disappointing. Still better than Freddy’s Dead, but still bottom 2 of the franchise. “Super Freddy!” get the f--- outta here

That sucks to hear. I like humor but I’d prefer more of a balance of humor and scariness
    Super cool bro
I looked it up and it’s been a long a--- time since this franchise had a new movie
I’m glad to get the confirmation that she returns. She was one of my favorite parts of the movie. I might watch the second movie tonight if I have time

2010! And it was a remake, Robert hasn’t been Freddy since 2003 with Freddy Vs Jason, crazy to think about.

also I’m trying to keep my reviews as vague as possible because I know you’re starting the series for the first time hahah

Lol I appreciate it but you don’t have to do that. If I see A Nightmare on Elm Street in the title I’ll just skip over it and come back when I’ve watched it
