    Ready Or Not (2019)
I have been hearing about this movie a lot lately I feel like, which prompted my decision to give this movie a main slot on my marathon. I can safely say, the hype was warranted! This movie was pretty cool and honestly, funny! I had no clue it was a horror comedy going into it, but all the humor landed pretty well. A lot of unexpected moments, but I will say that the main twist was kinda expected and not too shocking. Other than that, I had no real issue with this movie! This is the first movie I have seen with Samara having the lead role, and I def see now why people wanted her in Scream VI much longer. She killed that s---. She brought her A game, she was funny, emotional when she needed to be, all of the above really. Good s---. I am now caught back up! Back on track with tomorrow's (well, today's) movie with Nightmare from 1981!

@DiggleDogg69 if you like Samara (who doesn't) check out The Babysitter. She's in there too as one of the leads. Great horror/comedy.

Part 2 of that also has Jenna Ortega btw.

Curious about Nightmare, never heard of it!

    The Exorcist

The past few weeks I've watched several possession themed movies (Conjuring 2, Annabelle 2, Insidious, Exorcist Believer etc.)
It's great to go back to where it all started. Without special effects, without bs love stories, no corny ghosthunters, without family drama which most of them have.... just a simple yet very effective story. The best part to me is the slow build up which they keep going until the last 20 minutes. Starting with the strong language, to the bed shaking and agressive behaviour, slowly becoming worse. The stairs scene, and the cross scene are so d--- good and creepy. Also the side stories/characters like Karras and his mom, Lt. Kinderman, the church desecrations, very interesting. Aside from the subject matter this movie feels so... real. Characters are real, story feels real, even the details are cool. Its such a small thing but I found it hilarious when the servant (Carl) said with a german accent; "It wants no straps" lmao. After seeing this I do more agree that Believer wasn't bad at all except for some corny stuff. But back in the 70's they made horror movies without too much drama.
Exorcist is a perfect example of that. 10/10

    Now on to the sequel!

Imma be honest, I haven’t seen the OG exorcist, but “your mother sucks cocks in h---” is one of my favorite lines and one of the funniest lines I’ve heard ever from a movie

    Exorcist 2: The Heretic

After the original there were several follow ups: a prequel (the beginning, kinda lame imo), a tv show I haven't seen, even a comedy sequel that actually has Linda Blair as well; Repossessed from 1990, also featuring Leslie Nielsen so you know what you're in for. I've downloaded it to watch it again, been so long lol.
And Exorcist III, that also has a small connection to the original, ignores part II, and only has an exorcism scene in it because they wanted to use the name 'Exorcist' to make people interested. Still, it's a great movie.

But the only actual sequel that follows up the events of part 2, with most of the same cast, is The Heretic. If you think or hope it's gonna be similar to the first one, you are gonna be let down though. Where the first movie focussed on the signs of possession, the spooky side, the investigation and eventually the exorcism, this one takes a totally different route.
It's about the aftermath of the exorcism and how it affected Merrins legacy and Regans life. The church recruited another priest to investigate the circumstances of Merrins death.
While doing so, they awaken the demon thats (still) inside of Regan. And then, the battle for her soul begins.
People absolutely hated this movie when it came out, and like I said I can't blame people that went in with totally different expectations. I'm not trying to be against the mainstream opinion, but I think it's a solid movie. It's fresh, instead of just repeating the same stuff from the OG.
It obviously has issues though. The whole synchroniser machine, its like something straight from a Black Mirror episode. Also don't understand how Merrin could communicate with them through it. But the main thing I kinda hated was the locusts. I totally get the idea of using them as an analogy, but literally have a swarm of them in a washington street was kinda stupid lol. And Regan touching all of them, and being some sort of hero kinda ruins the story that it was random. Also.... they ignored the last 10 minutes of the first movie by completely ignoring Karras and the fact that he took over the demon. Maybe thats why the 3rd one ignored this too.
I did like how they brought Merrin back, I also liked the return to the old house, Regans struggle, the return of possessed Regan, and how they went further into the spiritual side of the possession. Also knowing the demon to be pazuzu, was nice.
My conclusion is that they really tried to make this one deeper, and more spiritual about the aftermath and the new fight over Regans soul, which I applaud. But imo they should have kept it a little more simple. It was kinda hard to understand some things lol.
Still, a solid sequel to me, with some creepy moments altough not half as scary as the first one. 6.7/10

A long review which further proves how, despite having flaws, this movie is very interesting!

Now.... the first/worst movie out of my second fav horror franchise!

    Halloween Ressurection

First off, this movie obviously shouldn't have excisted. Yes, Michael has 'died' before and came back. But he got his head cut the f--- off lol. H20 was the ending for that storyline, period.
The whole paramedic bs is just impossible. Funny in theory, but no. If H20 ended after the fight in the school, it could have been used as an excuse. But there's no way that a normal person got out of the body bag, attacked Laurie in the bus, was thrown through the window, got up, got slammed against a tree and was still alive and concious lol. Also the flashback shows Michael walking away after Laurie cut the guys head off, while he switch clothes in the school. They did not think this through lol. Aside from it being impossible, they ruined a great ending to a solid movie.
Thank god they rewrote that story because even though Halloween Ends wasn't perfect, it's a thousand times better than this ending for Laurie.
Okay, is there anything to like at all?
To be honest, except the fact that they killed Laurie in the opening act, the first part of the movie I actually like. The halloween score is really good here and yeah until the main part starts I think it's pretty solid.
But yeah then the reality bs begins. I don't like reality tv in general, let alone fake reality tv (I see the irony of this statement). They managed to have the most insufferable characters, with "Freddy" (Busta) being the worst of all time. Jezus that dude was annoying and insufferable every second he was on. In between there's glimpses of Halloween like the party and the kids trick or treating. When the morons are all killed, with some fun kills though, and its just Sarah, the movie gets a little interesting. She is the exception, decent character and I like the viewers giving her advice what to do. I actually like that part of the movie (so like 15 minutes). But then, of course the movie has to end with Busta saying: 'hey Mikey, happy f---ing Halloween' and do some cringe kung fu sounds. Ugh.

The reality tv / slasher movie combo isn't even the worst idea. And I've definitely seen worse horror movies than this. But it shouldn't have been a Halloween movie because it adds zero to the franchise other than f---ing up a good ending to H20. I've got to see H2 by Zombie yet, but right now this is the worst of the franchise for me. 4/10

This just goes to show you shouldn’t always follow a trend just because it’s popular because it will often end up aging poorly. I know reality TV was blowing up at the time but it has no place in the Halloween franchise and because of that this movie will look stupider and stupider over time

The movie "Stream" I saw earlier this year just sounds like a better, more modern version of this movie

Also for some reason, your comment about happy f---ing halloween reminded me of EVIL DIES TONIGHT, EVIL DIES TONIGHT

Exactly lol. Especially since it has zero connection (other than the intro) so there's no reason to watch it at all.

Still think Busta Rhymes is worse but yeah. As much as I love Kills, that part was awful lmao

That is what I meant earlier with 'newer' movies forcing drama or other modern s--- on you
