Oct 19, 2024 Late Night With The Devil Like I mentioned earlier, I've made the mistake before to hype up a new movie for months, only to be let down eventually. Most recent examples US and Midsommar. I have seen zero spoilers for this other than that it would be found footage and the ending had mixed reviews. When I saw found footage I was afraid it was gonna be like Blair Witch, REC, Paranormal Activity and other f---ing awful shaky movies with people filming themselves. Technically this is FF, but it plays like a normal movie thank god. Past few days I've been calling a lot of movies 'fun' with the best examples being Happy Death Day and Freaky. They do have some suspense, but are never scary imo. Also they focus a lot on teenage drama like self empowerment (I AM A PIECE!!!!!!!! -cringe-) and 'I need to be a better person' boohoo. But they are comedy/drama/slasher movies so I can't blame them. I do think earlier slashers like Scream and Halloween are waaaay scarier (to an extent) than most of the modern ones. That said, if I treat the fun movies like actual horrors, I would not rate them as high. This I realized again while watching this movie. It is not action packed, but it also has no sentimental boohoo stuff, it's just creepy as s--- for 90 minutes. The real horror only takes place the second half of the movie but the whole vibe, even before the demon revealed himself that girl was so d--- creepy lol. It has been a long time since a horror movie really made me this uncomfortable. And that is what I want from a horror movie. After I watched I was desperately googeling for movies similar to this but so far no luck. This was a pretty unique one. The ending, people have different opinions on it. Biggest issue I have is that it ended so abruptly. I wasn't ready for this ride to end. But other than that I think it was cool. Especially the connection with the summer camp or whatever it was called and the cult. In the end the message obviously was: you have to sacrifice things for fame. It was a bit chaotic at the end and after most of the movie was a bit slow I get people being confused a bit. But I think it was really well done and yeah, thank god this time all my anticipation wasn't let down! Best horror movie in years imo. Also highest score I gave a movie this horror season so far! 9/10
Oct 19, 2024 This is true. I had to sacrifice my left nut to get top s80 poster status back in June. It was a clear night in June too. d---, high praise. I’ll have to keep this Late Night With The Devil movie in mind
Oct 19, 2024 I haven’t had as much time to consume horror movies this month as I thought I would. At this point, my main objective when it comes to horror is to just finish the A Nightmare on Elm Street franchise before November. I also wanna break the trend of me pretty much only watching horror movies in October, I need to start watching them year-round.
Oct 19, 2024 Lmao. Yeah, well to be fair most movies I've watched so far I've seen multiple times already. So some of them I probably rated higher the first time as well. Perhaps this will go down in the future too but I was blown away yesterday. Especially the way it stuck in my head all night and still lol. Also I was wrong, I rated Exorcist a 10 so it was the second highest so far. And the classics are still yet to come the next 2 weeks.
Oct 19, 2024 I mostly watch the classics around Halloween, and new ones all around the year. Rainy weather and being dark outside just makes it more creepy for me
Oct 19, 2024 Same. It honestly feels wrong to watch horror movies in the daytime, it just doesn’t hit the same. Although if it’s a really rainy, gloomy day then that makes more sense and feels better than watching on a sunny day
Oct 19, 2024 Aight started again; The Babysitter I truly have mixed feelings about this. First off, I can't hate on a movie that has Samara Weaving and Bella Thorne. g.d.. Same as some other horror/comedy movies, it balances between both genres. 2 movies I mentioned earlier, Happy Death Day and Freaky, barely have any gore or tension. This movie definitely has some gore and also some dope slasher moments. But in this case, I think the cornball s--- hurt the movie. Bee was a great character. But the other clowns, especially the shirtless douchebag, the cheerleader and the black dude were soooo corny. Funny for 12 year olds perhaps. I don't mind corny comedies but the gore in this movie was not for 12 year olds. Also the nerdy star wars s--- is not for me at all. If the movie cut some of the childish stuff this could have been a great slasher. Now, its decent to me. 6.7/10
Oct 19, 2024 I never see love for Malignant, and even if it’s goofy sometimes, I think it was pretty cool
Oct 19, 2024 The Grudge Early 2000's there were some cool american remakes of Asian horror classics. Grudge being one of them. They didn't completely 'americanize' this one, since its still a Japanese legend and it takes place there. Just the lead is the always beautiful Sarah Michelle Gellar. It's a nice haunted house tale, with genuinly scary moments and a nice story that is told throughout the movie. It goes back and forth in time, by the time the movie is almost over the pieces of the puzzle are put together. But luckily the creepy moments are all over the movie, not just parts of it. Not sure if I put it over the Ring, which I will watch tomorrow, but its nice! 7.2/10
Oct 19, 2024 Mckenna Grace is allegedly in talks for a role in 'SCREAM VII'. It is rumoured that she will play Sidney’s daughter.
Oct 19, 2024 Just watched fear inc, never seen it before and it was a good watch for sure, lot of nods to classic horror films in this one along with some pretty good suspense and kept me wondering about s---... then the end was f-----. Check it out if you havent
Oct 20, 2024 Yeah, bringing in the daughter and making her the killer seems like the next twist that could happen like I’ve said before.
