Nov 4, 2017 It’s basically Groundhog Day if it were a slasher film. The characters are also really likable and there’s even nice character development. I also don’t think you’ll see the twist coming. It’s very well done.
Nov 5, 2017 Yeah I’m starting to think 4 is the better film as well. Plus 4’s opening is f---ing awesome. 4 just had such a better vibe and atmosphere than H20. I also never thought about your one complaint. The campus setting IS terrible. You’re right. I don’t even feel like I’m watching a Halloween film due to this. And yes, even though I loved it at the time, Michael getting his a--- whipped by Laurie is a joke. He’s supposed to be The Shape. Not Ghostface from Scream. I find it very hard to believe this is the same Michael Myers from the original Halloween. That alone requires a big suspension of disbelief. So yeah, like I said before it didn’t age well at all. I really don’t think it will be that hard for Halloween 2018 to top it.
Nov 5, 2017 100% agree. Ironically the opening part from H20 is one of my favorite parts lol (in Illinois). 80% of the movie is boring high school stuff and a few good Laurie/Kerry moments and yeah like u said the end is cool but it ruins the reputation Michael has in other movies. But as bad as it is, it is never as bad as the curse of the 'Thorn' my god that was some franchise ruining garbage. Honestly I don't even dislike H6 as a movie -again, vibe is good and that old lady explaining the kids what Halloween really is was awesome, the town going back to celebrating the holiday etc.. - but holy s--- at that thorn trash.
Nov 5, 2017 6 and Resurrection are the worst imo. After 6 they knew they couldn’t follow that s---. That’s why H20 ignored everything after the second film. And Resurrection ended up being the last in the franchise before it was rebooted because they knew they once again broke the franchise. And just for the record I think both versions of Curse are bad. The Producers Cut is obviously better but that’s not saying much. I also hate Halloween 5 but not as much.
Nov 5, 2017 The end of H20 was pretty kickass. It's a shame though that Kevin Williamson incorporated "Scream-esque" moments in it. I loved the stuff involving Laurie.
Nov 5, 2017 Actually at first there was supposed to be a scene in H20 where Laurie saw on TV that her daughter was killed by Michael and puked in the bathroom... but that would be sick why the f--- would Laurie leave her daughter. In 4-5-6 Laurie was dead and the H20 storyline ignored that she has a daughter. Luckily they didn't connected the 2 storylines wouldn't have made sense. What is the difference in the 2 curse movies? Also agree but H6 >>>>>>>> Ressurection still
Nov 5, 2017 Difference is Ghostface was never superhuman, and it was always a different person in a costume. Totally different from Freddy / Jason / Chucky / Michael
Nov 5, 2017 In the theatrical they use the weirdest editing ever. Like whenever someone is getting stabbed they do all these strange jump cuts all over the place. It’s edited like a d--- music video. I guess they were trying to make it more commercially appealing but clearly failed. Also the ending is vastly different. If you haven’t seen the Producers Cut by all means watch it. I saw a bootleg of it years before it was on bluray but it’s now easily available. I still think both s--- but the Producers Cut I can at least call a movie. Cinema Snob actually reviewed both cuts separately not too long ago.
Nov 5, 2017 Just the whole vibe of H20 is very 90s slasher-ish. That’s where people come up with the Scream comparison.
Nov 5, 2017 Ooh yeah in the end of the producers cut u see Loomis taking over that thorn tattoo at the end right? In the other version u just hear him scream. And also a different opening involving that weird cult stuff.. I know yeah H20 is just a regular slasher involving michael myers. But to me not a halloween movie. Same goes for H20 which is just a haunted house movie except the killer is Michael lol
Nov 5, 2017 Nightmare on Elm Street 4 was so s-----y it wasn't even funny. Oh boy 5 and 6 are going to be the death of me.
Nov 5, 2017 My biggest problem with 4 was how fast the survivors from 3 died. Like you mean to tell me that they went through all that and then were just easily killed in 4???? Smh they should have ended the franchise after 3.
Nov 5, 2017 Cosign. But that happens a lot in movie sequels.. I can name a bunch where this happens. Yes 1 2 3 (freddys comin for u) and then do new nightmare. But Freddy was a cash cow so obviously sequels kept coming
Nov 5, 2017 Yeah, it is common. Still bothered me though. And on the note of Freddy still being a cash cow you're right. Turns out either 4 or 5 was the highest grossing film in the franchise lol. I liked the 2010 remake. I was actually hoping for another franchise but for some reason things fell through.
Nov 5, 2017 Sorry you didn’t like Elm Street 4. I happen to really enjoy that one. 5 is definitely a step below that and 6 is one of the worst films I’ve ever seen. Pure trash. 7 is good though.
Nov 5, 2017 I only like 3 a little more than 4. I thought it followed it up nicely. I’d have to watch it again to give my full thoughts on it though.
