Dec 14, 2016Saw this on reddit. Pretty good year for the UFC even with a ton of Main Event/Co Main fall outs.

Bellator needs to go ahead and just let Chael promote this fight and not let Tito speak.

Those are obviously different circumstance, but I'm just saying Dana isn't exactly a trustworthy source (for the record, I'm not expecting Ronda to return at 205 despite being the one to suggest it)Criza Malone Hamilton, Nori and Kon like this. -

Wow going back to 2 cards in 1 day, thought they deaded that like 4 years ago. 19 events in 20 weeks is kinda crazy. Gonna be FFWD'ing/DVR'ing a lot more fights then i normally do. Was wondering what they were planning for the FN 100, guess 2 events in one day? lol

Did Nick prove that though? 143 did 400 K buys, the next PPV was Frankie/Bendo 1 and that did 375. He had a fight with BJ right before that, that shed limelight on him (despite piss poor PPV numbers). Nate was never given the opportunity to really show what he could do on PPV. I mean he more then earned that title shot against Bendo and that did great numbers on FOX. Would anyone really say that Nick is more popular in 2016 then Nate?
You want to know what also did great numbers? a Shevchenko/Holm fight that had a trash undercard. Why? because Holly knocked Ronda out and then was co main of 196 and lost. She got "the rub", that Nate will get if he wins 2 of the biggest PPV's in UFC history. I also think the UFC had an ulterior motive for putting Tate/Nunes as the headliner (as opposed to it being given the slot due to merit), they were planning for Miesha to win and Ronda to come back and fight her next. And also Brock hadn't fought in 5 years, was unranked and the "UFC 200" name sold itself. Card was being talked about for over a year and between the McGregor and Jones drama everybody knew what was going on and everybody knew Brock was on the card.
I think the McGregor fights have been a game changer for Nate and all of the UFC's draws are getting knocked off (as the company gets sold). Stipe, DC, Bisping (#2 draw as champ imo), Woodley, Alvarez, Cruz, DJ, Nunes & JJ, I don't think 1 of them outdraws Nate now. You're gonna fill out 10-11 PPV's (assuming 2-3 McGregor PPV's) with these ppl next year? Expect a lot of 200-300 K buy cards -

Honestly they put on a lot of PPV's, they cut a few out this year because of 196 (the OG, Cain/Werdum 2) and just so they could line 200 up with July. But they've stacked them and they still did poor outside the McGregor/200 ones. I honestly think business-wise its pretty dumb to stick these non-draws ahead of stars. I mean ppl forget that UFC 178: DJ vs Cariaso barely cleared 200 K, if that s--- was called 178: McGregor vs Poirier it probably does at least 300 K, this was before he completely blew up but still card for sure does better.
Again they're not sticking Nate on some FS1 cards, because he isn't gonna go for that. He would rather not fight then get some 300-500 K paydays. They could still technically give him PPV points and stick him under some random Title fights, but hes a bigger draw then any champ other then maybe McGregor and thats before 202.
Maybe Khabib is the "biggest fight" for him at 155, but its by very little and its also a risky fight against a style of fighter that the Diaz brothers both hate. Nate could come back in a year and rematch Cerrone at WW and would be a bigger, much more winnable fight. -

Nate is actually really intelligible here. I've always seen guys say he's just got social anxiety. He's a lot more comfortable in this lax setting. -

Guess we'll see how it goes, Dana has changed his mind many times before. If Conor wins, I could see him being like "well I already beat Aldo in 13 seconds". Couldn't have pulled that off if Frankie had won that fight. Obviously if Nate wins that's his only play.
Anyways i'm counting 9 consecutive weeks of UFC starting with 202.

Feel a little better about the TUF winner getting a crack at DJ now. Either way probably half these guys end up in the UFC and we have some fresh faces in the FLW division.
Also Maryna Moroz (#8 WSW) vs Justine Kish added to the SLC FN on August 6th. -

Besides UFC, I try to catch ONE FC, EBI, Invicta, some AXS TV cards (mainly EFN), Lion Fight, Glory, and boxing. Bellator when I remember to DVR it. I've seen the occasional M-1, Legacy, Victory, or Titan card. Even some lesser orgs than that like Mixed Martial A'rr which took place on the deck of a cruise ship. UFC and ONE are the only ones I make sure to see live every time I can.
Podcast wise, I like Co-Main Event and Heavy Hands. I use /r/MMA and /heem/. Really only read Jack Slack's articles semi-consistently. Follow a couple channels on YouTube like MMA Digest, Tristar, and Compufighter. -

Hype for the card tnite. I'll be at a wedding so I'm recording it. Turned notifications off on my phone so I won't know any outcomes.
LOVE watching Rory fight. One of my favorites.
Also pumped to see Cowboy.
Should be fun, boys. Cheers. -

Anthony Pettis will make his 145 LB debut against Charles Oliveira (#7 FW) on August 21st in Vancouver on FOX. Bellator LW Champ Will Brooks has signed with the UFC and will fight Ross Pearson at the TUF Finale on July 8th. Also Cub Swanson (#6 FW) vs Tatsuya Kawajiri (#14 FW) and Thales Leites (#12 MW) vs Chris Camozzi added to the Salt Lake card.
Weird how late they announced all these August shows between UFC 202, the SLC card and now this Vancouver show (especially considering its on FOX). I get that the hold up for 202 was McGregor vs Diaz 2, but im surprised they didn't start announcing fights for these cards earlier.
Also really weird how Bisping is angling for a Hendo rematch, I get that he wants to get revenge for his most embarrassing loss but Hendo just lost to old a--- Vitor.Nori, Poohdini and LLLMMMMFFFFFAAAAAAOOOOOO like this. -
