Greg Hardy is making the move to mixed martial arts.

The controversial former Dallas Cowboys defensive end has decided to put his football career on hold to pursue MMA, MMAFighting.com has learned.

Hardy, 28, who does not have an extensive martial arts background, has been training for several months in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, and according to his team, several promotions have already expressed interest in signing him.

"I'm very focused and excited to start my MMA career," Hardy said in a statement provided to MMAFighting.com. "I'm going to do this the right way, I can assure you of that."

As a member of the Carolina Panthers, Hardy missed the majority of the 2014 NFL season after being placed on the commissioner’s exempt list due to a domestic violence incident with an ex-girlfriend. He would go on the miss the first four games of the 2015 season to serve a suspension stemming from the case. His original suspension was for 10 games, however, an arbitrator later reduced his punishment.

Hardy played for the Panthers for five seasons before signing a one-year deal with the Dallas Cowboys last year. He was unable to land a spot with a new team during the off-season. His best season came in 2013 when he recorded 15 sacks and was named to the Pro Bowl team.

Last month, Hardy was arrested on a cocaine possession charge in the Dallas suburb of Richardson.

According to his team, Hardy currently weighs approximately 285 pounds and is expected to debut as a heavyweight when he fights for the first time, most likely in 2017.

"I'm fully committed to being as successful as I can be in this sport," he said.

Well hes a criminal and a team cancer who nobody will have, hes essentially Ray Rice except he can still play.

Bellator will give him mid 6 figures to fight cans, probably better then the minimum non guaranteed deals he would get if anyone would even consider taking him.

With the Manila card being canceled Sam Alvey vs Alex Nicholson has been moved to the Mexico City card and Ricardo Lamas (#4 FW) will fight Charles Oliveira (#8 FW) on that card as well.

My guess is if Ronda wins they do the Holm rematch next, then maybe Cyborg sometime after that. Can't see them rushing to do the Cyborg fight since it'd be a risky business move if Ronda gets destroyed then can't fight for a while again if ever.

Holly would be a hard sell for a title shot unless she turns it around and starts winning again.

If they don't go the Cyborg after 207 route than the only other legit choice would be Pena (for the moment at least)

Shevchenko is also out there and Tate if she wins at UFC 205.

Pretty sure Pena is on the outs with the UFC acting like she is gonna hold out for a Title Shot. Pretty sure they wanted to book her vs Valentina at UFC 205.



Holly has lost 2 in a row, she's probably gonna have to win a couple to get back in the picture. Could see them giving her a couple easy ones like Betch or Chookiagian/Carmouche winner, so they can attempt to line her and Ronda up. Then again if they put Holly on that 207 card, she wins and Ronda calls her out then all bets are off and the UFC will do that rematch.

True, but only way I see Ronda vs Tate 3 happening is if Tate can reclaim the belt, a title unification/interm champ scenario or last minute replacement.

I'd be ok with that happening but would need both to have good performances in both their fights to make it work.

Yea I dunno she is the most popular Women's fighter outside of Ronda and they obviously still have beef. Nunes, Pena and Shevchenko have like 100K twitter followers combined. They kinda owe Miesha one for skipping over her initially and giving Holly the title shot at UFC 193.

In terms of merit Pena should be next or Pena/Shevchenko winner, but a lot of the time it doesn't work out that way.

Dana was just on UFC Tonight and said Paige VanZant vs Michelle Waterson will be the December 17th FOX Main Event, hinted Cruz would defend on the 207 card and that DC/Rumble 2 would be the Main Event of UFC 206.

Guy who started the rumors came out and said his sources were wrong. He originally said Conor got his nose broken and Conor posted an instagram picture that day and he looked fine.

Anyways TUF season has been awesome, bunch of upsets and all 8 of the first round fights ended in finishes.
