Modern Day Nas & Jay (Who's better)

    I always appreciate how Nas always runs a theme through most of his albums, they have a purpose, a message. On the other hand some of Jay's albums just feel like compilations (except American Gangster, of course). Jay obviously wins in terms of popularity and sales but you can't deny Nas is (and always has been) the better artist.

    Nas for sure, Life Is Good was the biggest difference maker here. I loved American Gangster but the rest of Jay's work post-retirement has been underwhelming with a few stellar tracks or guest verses here and there.

    I listen to current Jay more than Nas but I think Nas still has the better lyrical talent because Hov fell off in that area (see MCHG) and if we compare latest albums, LIG >>>>>>>>>>MCHG
    but then again, AG was the best album that either of them have released in the last 10 years

    Jay has the high points if you're counting Watch The Throne, and Nas has the overall consistency
