Apr 28, 2015 are you serious? this is literally one of the best things about him. he had an INCREDIBLE streak of features from 2011-2013. where the f--- were you?
Apr 28, 2015 and then don't look at them on paper -- kendrick's delivery, nuances, and overall execution easily matches Pusha's own but for me (and others) gives it an added edge due to how emotive he was. I think Pusha's verse gets overrated once people start calling it the verse of the year, but up until then, Im all for someone preferring it to Kendrick's (although I think the latter was better)
Apr 28, 2015 s--- almost forgot MMG actually did their thing on here but kendrick just ended their whole label. Rumor goes that this verse is the reason maybach discontinued production
Apr 28, 2015 I'm Makaveli's offspring, I'm the King of New York King of the Coast, one hand, I juggle them both /thread
Apr 28, 2015 If you think Kendrick's verse is better, you need to reevaluate your position as a rap writer. It's pretty clear who took it. And it isn't remotely competitive.
Apr 28, 2015 ive written about kendricks verse on the track plenty of times. http://sectioneighty.com/top-15-kendrick-lamar-verses/9/ lmao @ having to reevaluate my position because I think the verse that includes: "My daddy turned a quarter piece to a four and a half Took a L, started selling soap fiends bubble bath Broke his nails misusing his pinky to treat his nose Shirt buttoned open, taco meat laying on his gold I said "Daddy, one day I'mma get you right with 36 zip" is comparable to Pusha's own verse. thinking its a wash is wrong, i dont care how much you might be being hyperbolic to drive him the point that Pusha had the better showing. The difference in quality between both MC's verses isn't notable.
Apr 28, 2015 there's nothing to disagree with here. it's either you were conscious off his run during those years or you weren't. lets not try to retroactively act like you know what you're talking about just so you can defend your initial point about Kendrick having "hit or miss" features i.e. I don't like to read also @CharlieWork I think Flacko was talking about me not Kendrick lol
Apr 28, 2015 @Narsh Gem Star razor and a dinner plate Arm and hammer and a mason jar, that's my dinner date Then crack the window in the kitchen, let it ventilate Cause I let it sizzle on the stove like a minute steak n-----, I was crack in the school zone Two beepers on me, Starter jacket that was two toned Four lockers, four different b------s got their mule on Black Ferris Bueller, cutting school with his jewels on
Apr 28, 2015 Kendrick during those days was like how Em must've been for current stans back in the early 2000s he had me on like ecstasy day in and day out because he was dropping incredible material so frequently
Apr 28, 2015 Read my write up on the top 15 verses piece i linked. its not great or anything, but i give pusha's verse all the credit it deserves. this convo at the moment is only about the semantics of saying Kendrick's guest spot isnt even comparable.
Apr 28, 2015 You're confusing stans with fans who like Kendrick's features and would like to compile his best ones. These are two totally different worlds bruh
Apr 28, 2015 So was I... I was talking about you. I been following kendricks run since 11 so dont give me that s---.
Apr 28, 2015 The whole ending to Kendrick's verse builds up to the most anticlimactic finish. I have no problem with people enjoying his stylistic flourishes, but it should always be in service to the writing and tone of the song or verse. Pusha didn't need that. His verse were so tightly written and impressive that it needs no flourish. It's a disservice for such a flawless verse to even be compared to Kendrick's. Hyperbole, aside, this is a thread for Kendrick showing up collaborators and by your own admission that isn't the case. It's at best a dead heat. I think you would be in an overwhelming minority should you poll people whose opinion you respect. There's nothing wrong with that.
