Jan 3, 2015 Don't wanna derail the thread but I feel like Bino came through with an album that was wholly unique in production and concept, and was totally out of left field, but kept it really listenable (as opposed to Yeezus, which was in the same vein but kinda grated on the ears at certain parts like On Sight intro and I Am A God's screams) Like BTI had great production, good lyrics, awesome flow, sounded cohesive without each song sounding samey, attracted both mainstream (3005) and underground (zealots of Stockholm), and overall just delivered in every way. Trap Lord was a unique rapper spitting over beats that strayed from typical trap conventions enough to be original without sacrificing the turnt vibe that trap is supposed to have. Both are amazing, but one is a genre and mind-bending journey that takes you across multiple art mediums and swerves from pop hits to abrasive grime-influenced beats then back to fun songs while another is just a cool take on the trap sub-genre.
Jan 3, 2015 Cut me some slack mang I've been up for nearly 24 hours and can't fall asleep because drugs. On a side note, I've never seen you make one bad post. Like, ever. You the man @Piiizzy
Jan 3, 2015 Sure I agree that the artists are who give very much added value to the production. However if we're talking about "most underrated member of TDE" then I feel it would be silly to talk about the artists. They've all gotten a good amount of shine (sure Jay Rock has been gone for a while, but he was the first one out). Meanwhile the production team has remained almost completely unnoticed. So if we're not talking about underrated TDE artists but we're talking about underrated TDE members, then I feel the producers are the ones who deserve this title right now. Just think about Section 80 and how much they contributed there and then try to imagine the album without their production. That sound they gave was oh so crucial for that album to work. It complemented Kendrick's raps very well.
Jan 3, 2015 It's a given that producers are gonna be underrated though It's like if we were gonna say who's the most underrated person on Breaking Bad, you would of course pick an actor because everyone already know that like the lighting dude for Breaking Bad isn't gonna get a ton of credit
Jan 3, 2015 d--- Christian (@Sign Language ) first music thread and you already got the whole site poppin lmao
Jan 3, 2015 I get your point and kind of agree but there's the difference of wording though. Most of the time people ask "most underrated actor" not "most underrated member of the whole series crew". So that's why you get the actor as a response. As in most of the time people ask "most underrated artist/rapper" not "most underrated member of a record label". And you do know that movies/series have producers right? Comparing producers to a guy responsible for lighting is really a strange analogy. Producers/Writers very often indeed get mentioned as underrated when talking about movies and/or tv-series.
Jan 3, 2015 Yeah I get what you're saying, I was just throwing it out there that the Producer is the obvious choice, so for the sake of interesting debate we should focus on the artists. And u right I completely forgot that TV shows have producers too lmao.
