May 5, 2016 100 Years – The Movie You Will Never See: Film Set for 2115 Release to Be Showcased at Cannes The film, set for release Nov. 18, 2115, envisions the Earth in 100 years and stars John Malkovich. It will be showcased in a safe at the Cannes Film Festival but will not be screened, outlets report. A movie no one will ever see is set to have a display at this year’s Cannes Film Festival. 100 Years – The Movie You Will Never See, starring John Malkovich and directed by Robert Rodriguez, will be showcased at the Cannes Film Festival this month. The film, first announced in November, was made in conjunction with Louis XIII cognac and won’t arrive in theaters (or whatever theaters are called in the future) for another hundred years, on Nov. 18, 2115. Per a press release, “to ensure that 100 Years remains secure until its official premiere,” the project is being “held in a special safe that will open automatically in 100 years when the timing is complete.” That safe will make an appearance at the Cannes Film Festival before hitting other cities around the globe and eventually heading back to Cognac, France and the Louis XIII cellars. “100 Years starring John Malkovich is clearly an innovative cinematographic project. I hope that our descendants will consider the movie 100 Years for the Palme d’Or at Cannes Film Festival in 2116,” Thierry Frémaux, general delegate of Cannes Film Festival, said in a statement. http://www.ew.com/article/2016/05/05/cannes-film-festival-100-years-movie
May 5, 2016 That safe will make an appearance at the Cannes Film Festival before hitting other cities around the globe and eventually heading back to Cognac, France and the Louis XIII cellars. Lol @ the safe basically going on tour... Anyways I actually kinda like this idea and it makes me excited to see the movie (even though I never will ...) Even if the movie is complete trash it'll still go down in history if it works out the way they want it to, certainly a unique idea. Also are they never getting paid off this movie then? Or just getting whatever $$ they get up front? Such a weird situation but it's interesting to me.
May 6, 2016 This is a cool idea. Not sure if I will live to be 127 years old though... I assume developing medical technology will get me there
May 6, 2016 Too bad someone couldn't have done this in the 60s, 70s or whatever so at least some of us would have had a chance lol.
