Just listened and ya. I think I like this one the most out of everything else here. There's a lot more going on in this beat; feels more finished.

I recommend watching a few mixing tutorials. Things Side chaining could help you a lot if you don't already know what it is

Yeah the mix is terrible because I didn't actually mix it lol I find that s--- boring and the beat wasn't worth it imo

If you think it's the best I posted yet I will do it tho.

I've never got any recognition from SoundCloud.
I've been able to slowly grow a fan base on YouTube.

Been posting there for about 8 months just over 200 subs and my top beat is approacing 5k views.

With YouTube I've found that it's all about how you title and tag your videos in order to get on the front page of specific search results.

EDIT: was checking out both your threads, put this in the wrong one :empalm:

Yea this one seems a bit unfinished.

You need to work on structure.

If your working on double time, try something like this

    8 or 16 Bar Intro
    16 Bar Hook
    32 Bar Verse
    16 Bar Hook
    32 Bar Verse
    16 Bar Hook
    Outro

Dont have to be like this. Could add a bridge, another verse etc.

Try doing something different for each one of these phases. Also try and change the drum pattern every 8 bars or add something to avoid the beat being too repetitive
An example would be at the start of the Verse phase.
For the first 4 bars there is no drums. after those 4 bars you introduce the snares., then the kick and the hi hats might come in. You could also take away the snares and then bring them back in. Just do this by what sounds good.

I like the effect you used @ 0:17 to transition into the drums. I also like the melody on this.

The snare and kick pattern that came after the effect seemed like something that would go in the intro phase of the structure that I made above; I was expecting it to change but it went on for the whole beat.

By this I mean maybe you could add instruments into the Hook Phases and not have them play in the Verse phases.

Like in the hook I should add things like the "bird effects" or more like other drums?

And I could for example completely change the kick and snare pattern in the rest of the beat? Or change the structure slightly?

Last question, do you think the beat structure is what makes it sounds unfinished, or do I just don't add enough elements?

Add things that people will notice and think "Oh this is the hook". Sometimes If my 808 is on the Verse I would remove it halfway through the verse and add it back on the Hook along with a lead so people now that we have advanced.

You don't have to change the sample of the kick/snare. Just change the kick and snare pattern slightly. Maybe remove the kick or the drums completely when you are coming to the end of the intro phase so when everything is brought back in the Hook it will hit the listener harder.

Definitely the beat structure, its very important that you know when to add and remove certain elements in the beat. Having the same hi hat pattern run throughout 32 bars will bore the listener. If you remove it for like 8 bars then add it back the listener wont have the hear the same 8 bars over and over again. It might seem like a really small change but those are what counts. Adding other elements to the beat is important as well. I'm still new to producing myself but I find that adding snare rolls is a really good way to make the beat seem like its going somewhere.

Adding transitions to move to the different phases of the beat is important as well. Example Risers, reverse cymbals etc.

Okay, thank you! I never really paid attention to structure and it was probably a big part of what was missing.

Hey I tried to adapt the beat to kind of what you said.
    What do you think? Better?

Definitely better. Not feeling the snares tho; I should have said that earlier. I think the snares are way too repetitive and I don't like how its kick-snare-snare-snare.Its okay to do that sometimes but its not that interesting in this case to be dragged on the whole beat. Some more kicks should definetely be added in there. Also for some reason its like things pause for a short while every 4 bar? It sounds weird when the beat is progressing. The melody and drums should just flow into the next bars

You mean I should remove the snares at some moments in the beat (like in the verses?) Or just change them more?

And yeah the beat loop "ending" was a choice I did to give the melody more sense, I could change that though.

I mean I think the whole drum pattern should have at least changed at like 0:40 and you should have just left that pattern behind in the intro.

Yeah, definitely change that. I just wasn't feeling it at all and it makes the beat seem pretty odd.

Honestly I think you would benefit a lot more if you just watched more tutorials and spend some time studying other people's beats to see what makes them stand out and then add those elements to your own, this is probably one of the best ways to learn and progress

Yeah I know but when I watch a tutorial I try to make a similar beat but everytime when I'm halfway trough the tutorial I notice our beats aren't similar anymore and I make the rest on my own lol

Maybe I should watch them without trying to reproduce it?

I don't really try and reproduce what they do in tutorials. I just look at the techniques they use, observe their workflow and pay attention at what they are doing that i'm not doing
