Don’t want to be that guy, but this album just makes me appreciate d--- so much more. I wasn’t real hot on d--- when it came out, but still found myself playing it fairly often, and had the urge too. This album? It’s been less than 48 hours and I have almost no desire to go back and listen. There’s some good moments and songs, and it’s not ‘bad’ per say, but it just isn’t doing it for me at all. It just lacks something.

Went back to d--- and the difference in quality is quite obvious …TPAB? Don’t even get me started. That album is cemented top 10 of all time.

Aside from the weirdo critics who wrote a review and gave it 10/10 8 hours after it came out (which is also lazy and stupid), the reception has been pretty mixed from regular people as far as I've seen. Some people love it some people hate it. I completely understand why it's not for everyone.

The album is dense but that doesn't mean you need a phd to understand it, it just means I think critics should at least spend a weekend with it before writing a dissertation on it. The worst part about being a Kendrick fan is all the people who think you have to be smart to understand him (same crowd who thinks you have to be smart to understand Rick and morty), but I guess every big artists' stans are embarrassing.

    Extremely well said

Went in with very low hopes after reading this thread. Really hit or miss. I enjoy like half of it, the rest is too "I try hard to be deep and appeal to smart people". He's creative with his vocals but his voice still annoys the f--- out of me

    Few keepers for sure though

Dude had writers block for years. This album is def not a product of continuous 5 years of work.

Why? This album deals a lot with personal grief, as does Kodak's music. He fits perfectly.

I'm sure this will take a few listens to get into, but after the first listen it's kind of mid. Def enjoyed Pusha's much more after the first spin

Maybe that's the concept, to play it out of order and that's why it feel disjointed sometimes.

I've cracked the code. Kendrick is literally Jesus, "NATION." Coming soon

He's obviously referred to as Mr morale at a few points and there's stomping (big steppers obviously) at the beginning/ending of some tracks with certain angelic d--- like vocals that have the same cadence with different lyrics at different points in the album.

A lot of I'd seems to be therapy related but there's definitely something to connect here, I'm gonna let other people do it for me tho lmfao

I love this album, it's too early but the overall vibe is a trip, kinda curious if it'll have longevity on the long run.
Can see why some people not liking it tho.
