    It’s a song talking about trans-acceptance within a Black/religious family/household. Its audience isn’t for super woke white hipsters but rather people who grew up in similar environments as Kendrick. Societal implications aside (has there been a major rap artist to make a pro-trans song like this? I genuinely don’t know) I like the song even though it’s prob not in my top 5 on the album. People are going to feel how they feel about him using the f-slur; you can’t change how people feel. I do think some people are missing the forest for the trees with this though.

    this is the main song where half the people think it's ultra offensive and the other half think it's some woke anthem even tho woke people hate it lol. while the people who like it think it's this huge triumph for trans visibility and trans rights. I don't think it's any of those things outright. I think it's just a Macklemore song aka probably well intentioned but mostly just sucks.

    The people who are saying Kendrick is trying to push some agenda didn't even listen to the album. They saw some headline on reddit about Kendrick making a transgender song and listened to just that 1 song.

    I came into album with no expectations and listened to every song. You just listened to the 1 song that was "political". Which one of us is trying to promote an agenda here? lol

    I'm warming up to this more with each listen. I have some issues with it and it's prob at the bottom of his studio album catalogue but it's a really interesting album to me. Really enjoying some of the songs I thought were meh on first listen.
