May 8, 2015Nate Dogg is one of my most respected people in HipHop, I put him up there with legends like Dre and Snoop, so I thought I'd make a thread about the king of HipHop hook's.
Information on him is so scattered these days its hard to keep track on whats going on with his music, so I thought we could have a little corner on this (GOAT) forum just dedicated to him. With any new info about upcoming music projects or anything else.
2015 Nate Dogg:
As it stands now; he's apparently got a posthumous album called "It's A Wonderful Life" being worked on by Warren G and others, but nothing has been mentioned on it since its second pushback in early 2014. So who knows if it will surface? I really hope it does because the last project Warren G produced with Nate and Game "Party We Will Throw Now" I thought was classic.
Also Warren G has said he still has lots of unheard material from him and Nate Dogg but won't release anything until the right offer comes along from a music label. Do you think this music will ever see a proper release?
So what did you like about Nate Dogg?
Personally, i thought everything he touched instantly made the song a lot more harder and legit. He was so flexible with his vocals he always seemed to blend in nicely but also stand out at the same time. He was taken away too soon at only 42 years of age and probably still had YEARS of good music left in him. I've been following his music for years and collected a lot of his tracks, and I've yet to hear a bad hook. I'd love to hear what else they have in the vault.
BIG UPDATE:
Warren G has just announced on Twitter 'Regulate... G Funk Era Part II' is happening:
The first single featuring Nate Dogg is available to pre-order: https://itunes.apple.com/us/album/my-house-feat.-nate-dogg-single/id1016675480?i=1016675494
More recent Nate:
There has been a fair few Nate releases in the past couple of years, but as usual they go under the radar so you really have to purposely look for them:

Sup Y'all, been lurking the thread for a minute, even back during the FHD leak on JCN, was gonna start posting on here earlier but with uni exams finally out the way I got the time to do it now
BTW I couldn't really think of a name so decided to name my account after the GOAT drink
Saw Cole at the 02 on Monday and I swear to God it was one of the best nights, if not the best night of my life, lining up 8 hours in line to be a the front was so worth it. Have been following Cole ever since The Warm Up, I remember telling my friends in school back in like 09 to listen to Cole and they would all be like "J. Who?"
Now literally the same people who didn't even want to listen back then came with me to the 02 show and song every song word for word. It's so amazing to see the progress, in both the music and the live performance he puts on, I've been with Cole every step of the way from his performances in Club KOKO in front of under a thousand people, to the Hammersmith show for the Born Sinner Tour, and now to see him selling out arenas is a beautiful moment. His music has got me through so much in life and inspired me to do so much more for myself.
It truly feels like Cole is one my best friends or cousins who's made it big
FHD was already a dope project to me, just behind Warm Up and FNL, but man the whole tour and the live instrumentation really just took the album to a whole new level. Cole really is the GOAT performer. Every time I have listened to it since I just appreciate it more and more, like LondonSimba said earlier every song is truly a moment in itself and I am not afraid to say its now his best project to me, I love all the songs, even Hello
After the show I talked with Cozz and Omen, Omen told me both ROTD2 and Elephant Eyes would be coming around June, but then again he told me Elephant Eyes was dropping in "a few months" back when I met him in late 2013 at the WDMC tour
Both were real cool and approachable, Cozz also said he is dropping a new project soon. I ain't really a fan of Bas or Omen but I think Cozz is so dope tbh. Cozz & effect was an excellent project imo, and the fact that was his first body of work made it even more impressive for me.
On the way back from the show I was listening to music on my phone and A star Is Born came on shuffle, I swear I almost shed a tear after Cole's verse. He's come so far and time has flown by, can't believe he 30 now

Just got back,
had a few drinks with friends, got to yell out today, s--- was too great. Small place for sure, right near my university.
Shout out to @Kold @Head Bussa @Fire Squad, Cole legion
Shout out to @JRH909 for the hookup - forever appreciated.
Shout out to @BrotherMan for trying to divert Cole tha God's shine with his kendrick posts.
f--- it, shout out to @AnalOnFirstDate for the GOAT name, @Kvp187 for moderating out there with a cold fist, @Equis the Caribbean countries are all sick, any resort if possible is amazing.
I'm feeling too nice right now
On to the performance, man it was great.Energy was fantastic & almost everyone knew the words to all the songs. Crowd let us rap to a few verses on our own. No bad odors, although there was a little bit of buzz, if you know what i mean
Back to the Topic is GOAT, I wanted more FNL but it doesn't fit with the happy/joyous feeling of it all. Speaking of which, ALL songs sound even better live. Hello, Work Out, Can't Get Enough, Power Trip, are great in it. & the little ramble leading up to No Role Modelz was funny as f---.
Some white lady behind me though sounded like she was at a museum, her boyfriend invited her (I overheard)Anyways she was going on about "oh that's nice" & "oh that was actually nice" & then thought the parts where he talked to the crowd were boring. SMH.
But yes, Cole is great live. Every fan of his should go see him at least once. Get some good seats though cuz nikkas bring out cell phone stands and s--- to hold up to the sky. I'm pretty tall and after the cameras go up it's crazy. Brought my girlfriend & was pleasantly surprised to find a few friends there. G.O.M.D. & Fire Squad & A Tale of Two Cities are just too good live. Great time. But Cole really needs to do something with that hair, looking like he's related to the Weeknd or some s--- with those extra millions he's stacked up
He said Lights Please wasn't part of the schedule & that we got him to play it. We threw out names to him like Welcome, See World, Whose World is This, & some other song I didn't hear but he said he didn't know the lyrics too off the top.
Low-key wanted him to bring out Drake for his In the Morning verse, what with Drake not having anything to do since the Raptors got swept
All in all. 11/10 night. Great performance. Vinyls were shown to be autographed, Cole saw and was like "how you got the vinyl & I ain't even got that s--- yet? How you beat me?" but he's usually late to a lot of things
And f--- is up with these smiles lately?King Simba, JLim51, Equis and 19 others like this. -

Gotta keep it 100 for a second, I know cole lacks that classic album, but this man is selling out arenas off an album where he wrote every lyric, rapped every bar, sang every hook, and produced near 80% of the album. He did this s--- all on his own, no help from hov or any super producers smh. That s----s legendary right thereMan single handedly brought back artist development.

I been drinking so I'm in my feelings, but what I say next is from the heart. Idk any of you but I enjoy conversing with all of you. Being able to share thoughts about music & life in general is beautiful, to me. MUSIC IS LIFE! I dedicate Big Sean's one man can change the world to all you. We differ in opinions but that's the beauty of this s---. Whatever you're doing in life, do that s--- to the fullest. Never take it for granted. Remember happiness is a choice. Choose to be happy. Choose to be altruistic. Choose to go harder. Choose to be better tomorrow.

Here's a story for you guys, I know a lot of you are OG but some of you may not know this story so I want to share it.
This one time I was doing some art for a few people on the site and @missy hit me up with a photo of herself. Well admittedly she looked good and I guess I was parched that day so the thirst got to meI responded with something stupid like 'd--- u look good if i didn't have a girl i would date you
' .. i added a heart to it too
Anyways @ODB got a screenshot of it and posted a thread about it. s--- was as bad as an ether can getbut he made it worse. dude went to the official J. cole nation twitter and tweeted 'owner of J. Cole Nation gets ethered' and posted a link to the thread.
2 years later it's all love. we started a culture blog together fam. he taught me the art of eating a--- too. it's the internet, nothing should be taken personal. -

6. Kendrick Lamar - section.80 (2011)
Sorry @Koolo, but section.80 is, and always has been my favorite Kendrick album. Props to @Maad City for guessing this right (I feel like @JFK would have guessed this right as well), cuz everyone else who guessed Kendrick guessed good kid, m.A.A.d city.
Don’t get me wrong: good kid is Kendrick’s best album and I completely understand why most would pick it as their favorite. However, there’s a certain intrigue to section.80 that I don’t think Kendrick has captured since. I thought To p---- a Butterfly was going to have it, but it became less interesting upon each listen while section.80 gets more rewarding upon subsequent listens. Despite the somewhat botched ending, good kid is a great album I can throw on anytime as well, but I find section.80 to be a lot more fascinating in terms of its structure and more abstract nature. I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again: GKMC follows a very simple narrative, but there’s nothing wrong wth that because it executes that simple narrative extremely, extremely well. At the same time, having a more abstract narrative doesn’t necessarily make section.80 the better album either (if only TPAB stans could learn that).
Only a handful of albums have captivated me upon first listen as much as section.80, so much so that I listened to it something like 16 times the first few days after I downloaded it (and no, not because something something jazz something something 2pac, I just personally find this album really interesting and also sonically pleasing). Each song feels kind of like a vignette that tangentially relates to the overall story and themes of the album, but they aren’t fully and concretely connected to one another like on GKMC. 2016 Kendrick could not flip a p---- C sample and make it work to the degree “Blow My High Does” (this honestly might be my favorite Kendrick song on a good day). “ADHD” is obviously great. “f--- Your Ethnicity” remains by far my favorite Kendrick album opener. Despite somewhat of an awkward chorus, “Hol’ Up” gets stuck in my head forever and the beat is godly. Though the highs might be higher on good kid, section.80 remains my favorite front-to-back Kendrick listen.Maad City, Sav Stanfield, Meero and 19 others like this. -
