- Thread: "New Music" Section
Aug 21, 2021
@Slyk
Any chance we can get a "New Music" section specifically for albums please? Lots of file sharing sites being taken down recently and a lot of us get our music fixes and new release knowledge from those sites. We have some great members on this site that could mod it. @Sav Stanfield @Chrollo etc.
One key recommendation would be that every album posted would need to be stickied so that it remains in chronological order.Last edited: Aug 21, 2021Ordinary Joel, BIGFOOT, Sav Stanfield and 7 others like this.(This ad goes away when signing up) -

Were you ever a hot topic emo fan? How about a durag wearing Eminem fan? Maybe a blonde with earrings kind of guy instead? Did you Stan an alternative rock band only to realize how bad they actually are? How about a "real rap" kind of guy?Ordinary Joel, Mudkip, Lil Squeed and 7 others like this.(This ad goes away when signing up) -

I rarely hear this dude mentioned on the internet aside from some bay area journalists like Noz. Andre Nickatina (fka Dre Dog) is from Fillmore in SF and was one of the most prolific bay area rappers in the 90s/early 2000s. I wouldn't call it hyphy tho he's certainly dabbled in it before, he even did a tape with Mac Dre though it was unfortunately not released til after Mac's death. They had collabed before and were already been planning to do a tape together so I think it was handled pretty well as far as posthumous albums go (also when I saw him perform he told us he saw the ghost of Mac Dre on stage lol).
He's super beloved all over the west coast and has been doing college tours up and down I-5 with the same hits for like 15 years at this point. He was immensely popular at my high school along with Bay Area rap in general—I'm not sure why but my assumption was always because it was the closest rap scene with real legs to Seattle.
Anyway, I made a quick starter pack playlist for yall—enjoy! @Hypebeasts @NewMusicAlert

I'd hate to think I'm the only one here who likes chopped & screwed/slowed & chopped. What are some of your favorite tracks? Do you think some tracks sound better this way? I know the genre isn't for everyone. Growing up in Houston it was everywhere, so I'm biased.
Aside from DJ Screw, I've been listening to a guy named DJ Purpberry for about 7 years now. He sticks to newer tracks exclusively. No one does it like Screw himself, but Purpberry is the closest I've heard anyone come to The Originator. Here are some of his best tracks:
