Dec 30, 2014 f--- I was actually gonna have part in there about how it's instantly affecting because of the delivery but that it takes a while to grown on some people (me included)….I f----- up lol but good looking man, glad you liked it! ill have the rest of these up over the next week now i should prolly go to sleep, its 420am ffs
Dec 30, 2014 How could I not see this video before? omg Kendrick's verse is really hard to enjoy on the first listen. It may be very annoying for people who aren't familiar with experimetal voice changes in the songs. As far as I'm corcerned, it wasn't a big problem, but still I needed to have a few listens to get used to it. Great write-up as usual tho.
Dec 30, 2014 Good writing man. I prefer Pusha's verse on this and I tend to overlook Kendrick's a few times. My Name Is My Name was bad imo, but we got this (and Numbers On Boards if I'm thinking of the correct song) so I'm not mad.
Dec 30, 2014 @Narsh dope list so far fam I'm definitely interested at what are your choices for the remainder of the list. Kendrick is a master of delivery and intelligently uses his voice as an instrument to give verses like I Hate You, The Heart Pt. 2 & 3 that extra layer of emotion. However the whole "resonating" part you got there depends a bit more on subject matter combined with delivery, from the reflective but optimistic tone of 2Pac on Unconditional Love to Kanye's determined (albeit wired) voice on Through The Wire and lastly the pain of J. Cole on 2Face. Aside from Kendrick, Ghostface is incredible at accommodating his voice to fit the song.
Dec 30, 2014 you for taking up my morning with this thread Na really, some good analysis on here. I'm a big Kendrick fan, of course I've heard these joints. No doubt he resonates with me. I've been through a lot of stuff he rhymes about. Others may have not. That's all they were referring to when they listed their favorite rappers. I'll follow this but let me know when you do a top 15 young thug list
Dec 30, 2014 Bro, I've heard all of Kendrick's and Drizzy's music. I'm not saying that their music doesn't touch me because that would be a lie. I'm just saying that Cole's music does more. It's all relative my G. We can easily snatch a few songs out their repertoire to plead our case, but for every one of theirs, there's probably two or three for COLE.
Dec 30, 2014 Im waiting for the Rich g--- sub to be made first. I've been petitioning for it Pusha's verse is great, which is why I spent half of the write up talking about it instead of Kendrick lol. And I think Kendrick knew that too, which is why he came so out of left field to try and one up him lol
Dec 30, 2014 Oh u gone see (although I'm sure this recent mishap with the site's layout will setback the timeline for this a little bit)
Dec 30, 2014 Oh you mean a new section? This'll be cool, I thought you were talking about a new project or something lol
Dec 31, 2014 I have a hard time deciding between that and Numbers On The Board as my favorite from the album. Both are gritty as f--- and capture that old Clipse sound
Dec 31, 2014 I'd rather listen to Nostalgia for sure - but I'm also a Kendrick fan first and foremost. They're both great in their own ways though. I aint made atchu if u like NotB more
Dec 31, 2014 I was also gonna ask where do you rank his verse for Flying Lotus' Never Catch Me? I personally found it mind-blowing how effortlessly he sounded over such a left-field instrumental combining the typical poetry and observations he accustomed us to. Even the pseudo-hook he does after is
Dec 31, 2014 @Narsh oi you and kendrick fam, a bit off-topic from your list but IDGAF. What do you think of this song? I don't ever see much/anything at all said about this song. so yeah curious to hear what you (because of this list so far)/other kendrick fam think of it. @Hasman @Olorin @Koolo only complaint is I wish it was the same caliber as 'Stan' cause of that Dido feature
Dec 31, 2014 I'd say forgettable, granted I've only listened to it a couple of times probably lol. I haven't listened to Dido's recent stuff at all, will have to listen again to tell more, I expect something similar to his Cry Wolf feature with ZZ Ward. Is the whole album worth it? I liked many songs from her previous albums (Thank You, Hunter, Sand In My Songs etc) but it's been a long time since I listened to her.
Dec 31, 2014 Didn't listen to dido's album, just the kenny feature also pretty sure i clicked reply instead of edit on the last post, f--- lol.
