May 24, 2016Hi Thug section,
In protest over the fact your esteemed mod @Narsh refuses to acknowledge me/apologize to me (or meet me in person at Barracudas to discuss our strife) I've decided to reach him where he lives: his precious Thug section. (Note: ftr I've shouted out his family multiple times, and he's shown no interest/ability to stand up for them. Hopefully this thread will resonate more deeply.)
Moving forward, I will be reviewing every song in Thug's discography, with running commentary on how this song has impacted Narsh's psyche. I will be taking requests. With me on ignore, I expect it will be difficult for Narsh to properly moderate this surely in-depth, incisive review of Thugger's body of work (while also doubling for a critical analysis on why this atlanta rapper means so much to a chubby Indian kid from Jersey.)
So join me as I roll up my sleeves and hit several slow pitch softballs into the gap. There's a lot of ground to cover, and I look forward to making this the best thread in the Narsh-era of online Thug appreciation.
Go.

I think this song works really well. Wondagurl's production is a steady, intoxicatingly warped backdrop for thugger's vocal style. Perfect complement to him. The result is an exceptional, captivating encapsulation of what makes Thug a unique artist. I could 100% see @Narsh jamming out to this while scanning backpages after popping a Benadryl his roommates told him was molly.

First, a comment. I keep thinking about the lyric "ride in that p---- like a stroller" -- forums are an interesting place. They're liberating to many of us, we can become who we want. (footnote: i want to be narsh's keeper/knower.) Many of us have issues we can't or won't share publicly -- health issues, depression. @Narsh has many of these problems. I've met him. He's openly copped to being a virgin, which isn't unusual here. Many of you are young, and sexually inexperienced. I've seen many mature here over time -- finding love, developing confidence with the opposite sex. Others- like @TimmyT - have discovered alternatives.
@Narsh has done neither. He's trapped in arrested development. So when I see him gleefully posting "ride in that p---- like a stroller" it makes me kinda sad, frankly. Because he never has... and may never. Shameful. @thuggersxnlasiiik, Venblavi, marmin shkreli and 21 others like this. -

I see him dancing. He is paralyzed. I was going to let this go, but he put me on ignore again and started deleting my on-message posts in his precious gangsta s--- thread. so dark knight rises. here i am.
So Givenchy has a lot going for it. I usually think Birdman is a burden -- he typifies the kind of dumb, slurring swagger I don't like often. (he isnt like me... and what a moronic self-parody he's become recently.) That said... his intro here is epic. Not gladiator david lean epic, but of the frat bruh variety. Still good though.
A lot of rap - to me - is about limits. Or rather, transcending/escaping limits. The limits placed on individuals. The way music/success defy limits, empowering the oppressed. I thought about limits alot when listening to Thug on Givenchy. you know he "can't stop." how he wants to hit like barry bonds. Exceeding the role placed on you - the euphoria of love, drugs, freedom - these themes underpin Thug, particularly here. You'd think @Narsh would appreciate that. Instead, he's all about limits, as long as they arent applied to him. He wants this thread's creative space to be limited. This is not an ordinary thread - it's profane, and bold, and outlandish, sure. but so is thug. its also laced with honesty and truth - about who we are, about the pain we inflict on each other. ive turned thug's gaze toward narsh... and he can't handle it. Like Thug, I cannot be contained.
altogether, this is an intense track about rising above expectation, and loyalty. its quite commanding... and 100% hypocritical for narsh to like it. he's tremendously disloyal. THIS was his #1?????
Billidybop, pull up on Narsh shootin' buck shots (TOP NOTCH!)

Why does this matter? It's almost pathological. Like, yes... it was successful with nearly 9 million views on Youtube, cited as the #3 track of the year by Pitchfork. But keep this in mind when you see posters like Narsh cough up wpg-semen over tracks like "Gangsta s---." Will this one be the song of the summer? Will it really?
Anyway, yeah... I Know There's Gonna Be (Good Times) has this whole confetti vibe to it that's really infectious. Shout out jamie xx, who really did craft a brilliant sound here, not to mention making the persuasions relevant again (if only briefly.) But IDK... the vibe here sometimes strikes me as bewildering-- it's celebratory and profane, but also vamped and predatory. This is a dichotomy that runs through a lot of Thug's work, I think. I find it mystifying how @Narsh can claim to relate to it, frankly. Can you imagine him walking around Boston muttering he wants to "ride in that p---- like a stroller" with strangers and children present? sooo awk.
On the other hand, Good Times does feature a quintessential lyric I've often used when approaching narsh's little sister... "come here bae... i'm molestin" And now I've turned my sights to you Narsh. The Chintuarli's will know my stain. pop quiz, pop quiz.... when it c-ms to your ***** yes i will pop this
Going forward, I want you all to listen to Thug's verses here with the image of me approaching a young female indian - who looks remarkably like narsh - at a college bar in/around Rutgers. Think about the way Thug's sleazy charm hearkens the girl in the song. And know me. That p---- callin Narsh... I want u to pass it to CA CAGoku187, Venblavi, marmin shkreli and 11 others like this. -

It's important to recognize why a song like this is empowering to someone like Narsh. It's got everything - a club-ready beat from Goose, Wayne-level flirtations with the mainstream, but just enough eccentricity and depth to keep it grounded. If you assume Narsh is the perennial outsider - the wallflower many of us once were/are - it makes immediate sense why this song's effortless, strange cool resonates. Narsh is smiling alongside those strippers - thug gives him hope. I know, I know, I know Narsh... we can get away. Just trying to protect you like a seatbelt.
