Aug 6, 2021 No the beat switch part. He may have mentioned tortilla chips but g.d. this verse was HARD
Aug 6, 2021 I thought it started to grow on me, but no, I actually don't like it. His verse on here is bad. That's two bad verses this year. Em will always be criticized, no matter what he does, but I just don't get how his approach at making songs turned into this. I still like his 2019 feature run. His voice sounded so good, it was like Em finally woke up and bounced back: MTBMB after that didn't sound like how I anticipated it, but he was still in his bag on it for the most part. We know how it went down with side b too, some like it, some not that much. I just hope his next one won't be like Revival, he shouldn't ruin his legacy.
Aug 6, 2021 Its I got Noel's (no L's) which is slick af The chia line is crypto currency That's alot of bucks flying when I'm making it reindeer. I got pills tylenol 3's, prolly 2 or 3 molly, "some are E", which reminds me of rap "summary" which is a song by big daddy kane...which ties into the kane refrence coming up. You're judging the set ups before he even gets to the analogy, or you just don't get or miss the entire refrence The pill lines are used to get to some are E/ summary to. Not every set up has to be the best godamn punchline ever, but his intertwining rhymes and refrences is incredible. Hes really good at utilizing homophones and alliteration now days. Most people on here cant name many literary devices a rapper can use but feel so confident in judging how he writes and delivers things. Bc if anything sounds different than what you're used to you say it's "off beat" which tells me you have no concept of what on beat means bc his syllables and phrases are always matching percussion and internal rhythms of the beats he's on. But you didnt even get the lines right so of course you're not gonna pay attention. You listen once and judge the first things you catch. Em word play and refrences get pretty dense at times. And yeah I know the response is gonna be " BUT ITS NOT SONICALLY PLEASING TO MAH EARS ITS THE MIXING" when you all dont even know what mixing is. Ppl keep talking about engineers and producers touching his vocals. All of eminems vocals are mixed by him and mike strange, they have been for many many years. When dre mixes a song he gets a vocal print of what em and mike did and just fits them to the rest of the track.
Aug 6, 2021 So do you lol. I know alot of people dont like the heavy saturation hes using but I love it. Ever since I found out he uses an avalon I always wondered why he wasnt utilizing that mid range on the EQ. But now he does lol.
Aug 6, 2021 You and me both lol. I got a presonus studio channel strip box now but the tubes in it arent anywhere near an avalon. Ima try to get one next year tho. They have the plug in version through UAD, but I dont really wanna buy an apollo for it lol
Aug 6, 2021 Yeah I was just watching some video by The Weeknd’s engineer on YouTube and he was flipping through UAD and it had a ton of preamps and s--- on it.
Aug 6, 2021 One of my engineering mentors is all about some UAD. They have their LUNA daw now. He thinks in a couple years itll be pretty solid. I just hate that their stuff requires the apollo interface. I mean I get it from a buisness standpoint, but it still sucks lol
Aug 6, 2021 This is a good post you're not wrong but being blinded by expectations is a thing as well. For instance when moon man and slim came out idk what I expected but I know it was unreachable so no matter what they did on first listen I wasn't going to feel it but quickly realized it was a good song but yeah otherwise a song shouldn't have to grow on you.
Aug 6, 2021 It's not the mixing for me, the flow is what's not pleasing to hear, through most of the verse. I don't like it in the beggining, and I also don't like it in the end cause he starts speeding.
Aug 7, 2021 I'd add his verse on Majesty also. He has a bit of a fast flow there, but it's ok, and the rest of the verse is rhymes heavy, but he has a good flow at the same time
