Dec 19, 2015Yeah one of the best games I've seen all year. Pau didn't even travel with the team to NY tonight. They wore him out towards the end, no subs either way for each OT. Kept putting Pau in pnr situations and he wasn't able to get back to his man (Drummond) quick enough. It's ok though, Bobby Portis should be in line for big minutes tonight. JB set a new career high and D Rose has been quietly playing really well since ditching the mask. Dropped 34 and looked really explosive and fit the entire game.

I have a feeling he might put on a show christmas day, whether that means he takes over or just makes some crazy plays who knows. But it's against the clippers for one plus he's been playing his best ball of the year and he knows everyone will be watching on the national stage.M Solo, The Pinnacle and Jakey like this. -

Sixers actually making some good moves. Jerry Colangelo is joining the team as chairman of basketball operations. @Jakey @Ordinary Joel @Soldier @Arch Dogg
http://espn.go.com/nba/story/_/id/1...erry-colangelo-chairman-basketball-operations
PHILADELPHIA -- Home in Arizona, Jerry Colangelo served as a willing mentor to NBA owners who called for advice.
Philadelphia 76ers owner Josh Harris wanted more than an opinion on what was wrong with his failing franchise. Harris asked Colangelo to fix -- and save -- the Sixers as part of the front office.
"He was reaching out for help, and I responded," Colangelo said.
In a surprising move designed to shake up a franchise sunk in a grueling rebuilding process, the 76-year-old Colangelo accepted Philadelphia's SOS and was named chairman of basketball operations Monday, a night on which the teamlost 119-68 at home to a San Antonio Spurs team without two of its best players, Kawhi Leonard and Tim Duncan.
Colangelo, the chairman of USA Basketball, will also serve as an adviser to team ownership.
Colangelo had a long career with thePhoenix Suns as coach, CEO and general manager, among other roles. He was also on the NBA's board of governors. He was inducted into the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame in 2004 as a contributor and is considered one of the most influential owners in NBA history.
"What I see here is there's a lot that needs to be done," Colangelo said.
He'll face one of the stiffest challenges of his career in steering the Sixers from the bottom of the standings toward their first championship since 1983.
Colangelo's arrival marks a concession of sorts that team president Sam Hinkie's plan -- known in Philly as both "The Process" and "Tankadelphia" -- of gambling on lottery picks to eventually build a contender was moving at a glacial place.
Under Hinkie's watch over two-and-a-half seasons, the 76ers:
• Lost 28 straight games stretching the 2014-15 and 2015-16 seasons.
• Lost 26 straight games in the 2013-14 season.
• Lost the first 17 games of the 2014-15 season.
• Lost the first 18 games of the 2015-16 season.
Brown and the 76ers went 19-63 in 2013-14 and 18-64 last season. They carried a 1-20 record into Monday's game against San Antonio. The championship might be the end goal in Philadelphia, but winning games would be a nice start for the woebegone franchise.
"We're not crying for patience," Colangelo said. "But the reality is, in terms of where the team is today, it's going to take some additional patience. Hopefully, the payoff will come. And if the payoff comes, it will be more than worth it."
Hinkie remains president and general manager, and the Sixers spun the news as the front office working as part of a collaborative relationship. But Hinkie's days of absolute power -- and public invisibility when crisis hits the organization -- are over.
"I think I can offer a lot of mentoring to Sam," Colangelo said.
Among Colangelo's expected first moves is a contract extension for third-year coach Brett Brown. The front office loves Brown's teaching, patience and leadership in guiding the team through the worst era for a franchise that has served as the home of Julius Erving, Wilt Chamberlain, Moses Malone and Allen Iverson. Brown's four-year deal was set to expire at the end of next season.
"We are in deep discussions with my own contract," Brown said. "This is where I want to be."
With Harris' approval, Hinkie set course in 2013 to gut the team of veteran talent and dip in the standings over several seasons with the wildly optimistic expectation that the franchise will rise into title contention within the decade. With losing streaks that rank among the worst in professional sports history, the process has been slow and painful and has sent fans fleeing the Wells Fargo Center.
"I wish it would go faster," Harris said. "Hopefully, Jerry will allow us to make it go faster. But our goal remains the same: We want to be an elite team."
There's hope Jahlil Okafor, Nerlens Noel, injured center Joel Embiid and overseas prospect Dario Saric will blossom into All-Stars, and at least one, maybe two, will become franchise-type players.
"I don't want to give you a false sense of comfort that it's going to be an immediate turnaround," Harris said.
Based on how some other teams fare, the Sixers could have four first-round picks in the 2015 draft. They have a state-of-the-art practice facility set to open next year in Camden, New Jersey.
"I think we're ready to go to the next phase," Harris said.
Hinkie said he was pleased to use Colangelo as a resource.
"It's a great day," he said.
And a miserable season. Although no one predicted playoff contention, Harris expected the Sixers would have more than one victory by the second week of December. The franchise suffered a PR hit last month when Okafor, the No. 3 pick out of Duke, was attached to a string of off-court incidents that included reckless driving and a fight in Boston. Okafor, who returned Monday from a two-game suspension, now has team security with him when he goes out.
"There needs to be some support within the organization around the players," Colangelo said. "There seems to be a void of leadership, player-wise."
Harris reached out to Colangelo almost two weeks ago about joining the franchise, and Colangelo brings some heavyweight credibility to the front office.
Colangelo, who arrived in Phoenix in 1968 to take over the expansion Suns as the youngest general manager in professional sports, also helped bring major league baseball and the NHL to the city.Ordinary Joel, Jakey and Mike02 like this. -

So hyped to see the worst player in the NBA tonight. Now it's not too often you can hear that sentence and it actually makes some sense, but tonight referring to me seeing Kobe for very likely the last time ever live it makes sense. I'm also going to the Blazers/Lakers game in January but it's like the 3rd game in 4 nights or something like that so it's very likely Kobe doesn't play. According to some stats that came out about shooting, Kobe was dead last in I believe 2 different categories. He's been awful this year (especially when it comes to shot selection) but it's gonna be hard for me not to get a bit sad tonight as I think of all the great Kobe moments I've got to see live over the years, I'm a huge fan and he's easily my all time favorite athlete, no one else is close. I'm gonna cheer him like crazy whether he goes 1-26, 0-14, anything similar to that or maybe he actually has a decent shooting night for once this year, who knows. Maybe he'll play smart team ball and not force anything.
Also very excited to see Russell play for the first time, Randle too but mainly Russell is who I'm more excited to see.
Considering the Lakers are 2-12, I'm actually VERY hyped for this game lol, it's gonna be fun. I just hope the Lakers don't get blown out, they usually keep games close for most of it at least.Jakey, Ordinary Joel and TimmyT like this.(This ad goes away when signing up) -

I remember Rafer Alston, Hedo, Rashard, Peitrus, Gortat, Courtney Lee, Williams, and Stan leading the way, they were all so good
After Dwight left to LA I followed but I strongly dislike the Lakers so I didn't keep up like that, then when he moved to Houston I was happy cause Harden team up but yeah he needs to step it up. I still remember his last days in Orlando how they asked him if anything was wrong and he said no, then they asked Stan the same question right after and he said Dwight wanted him out. It was only 2 years ago from that point that everything had been going so well, they were taking out the Cavs and Celtics, and Dwight and Stan were always having fun with each other. Even Patrick Ewing as his assistant coach was beast. It was all so perfectOrdinary Joel, Lil Squeed and Poohdini like this. -
