But the last few years, LeBron has taken that leap. Even in those Finals losses, I felt he increased his legacy. Is it enough for me to put him over Kobe, someone who I saw do it for two decades? Nah. But he's getting close.

Tbh I don't think the other great NBA players really think Bron's better than Kobe. Most of them certainly seem to respect Kobe more for his dedication to the game. In the 2012 olympics, Kobe was out of his prime, Bron was still in his...Yet it was Kobe who locked down the other team's best defender every night, and made the clutch plays late in the gold medal game vs. Spain to win it.

Why? Killer instinct isn't something you turn on and off, it took Klay's comments after game 4 to set Bron off, then he went off for games 5, 6 and 7. Bron was very passive in the 1st 4 games of the series, but yes I know his stats were still great.

It's all thanks to that s-----y Miami Heat kid fan saying "good game good effort" after Celtics took that 3-2 lead. I bet that kid is a Warriors fan now, f--- him

Kobe wins in terms of intangibles, skills and rings, Bron wins in terms of stats. Honestly I'm not trying to come off as anti-Bron or a huge Kobe stan, I think I'm being fair here cuz I'd consider the argument a lot more legit if/when Bron gets his next ring.

Just think it's too early and pretty unbelievable that the general consensus is already that Bron was much better, and unfortunately that's what I've seen from a lot of people not just on here, but other places too. To act like Kobe's not even in the discussion is just baffling to me.

god your so f---ing biased lol

i dont think you know what killer instinct means lol. the fact of the matter is he performed when his team needed him most which is what people gave him s--- for the whole first end of his career.

also your convienently ignoring his record breaking performances in the previous years finals.

@Kon in all honesty LeBron should be the GOAT, even above Jordan. He's that f---ing good and dominant.

But he's only that good when he's taking over games like he did vs Celtics in 2012, or the last two Finals.

Angry LeBron is a force I've never seen before. He's legit unguardable.

But, that level of potential takes away from what I saw from my other top 4, because they were that for years, and in almost every game I watched them in.

I agree he certainly could be the undisputed GOAT if had Kobe or Jordan's mind set, but he doesn't.

Anyways, most of you were too young to really follow Kobe's prime years anyways...guess I'm just a biased Kobe stan, whatever. Feel bad for you guys not being able to appreciate how great Kobe was, no one's dedicated themselves to the game like he has.

I'll put it this way, 5 years from now, LeBron will be clearly better than Magic, Kobe and Bird.

Yeah buy @Kon he does have that mindset now. You can point to him being down 3-1, but no matter what motivated him, it did, and he put on a clinic in the last 3 games last year.

LeBron since 2012 has been head and shoulders above the league. He takes over when needed. If this LeBron played us in 07-10, we would've been destroyed.

Fair enough...Well I still disagree for now, I'll admit Bron's passed Kobe when/if I feel that's the case. Like I said if he gets to his 4th ring, it'll be a good argument then imo. If he gets his 5th then I'd say he's had the better career at that point for sure. To me he needs to get 1-2 more rings and continue to play at an elite level for 2-3 more years at least.

The ring doesn't matter to me. When he lost to the Warriors two years ago, he played so great that they were having a legit debate on whether he should win MVP, as a loser lol. That's when I put him ahead of Bird. And Bird still had 3-2 rings.

Beating Jordan is nearly impossible for me, but Kobe and Magic? Yeah, few more years, I'm pretty much sold.

You guys gotta understand the hate I've heard as a Kobe fan throughout my life, like you're accusing me of being biased and I get that..But when Kobe already had 3 rings at the age of 23 or whatever, I was hearing people say 'there's no chance he's ever on Jordan's level or comes close to it.' What?? Like how could people say or believe that for a fact at the time when Kobe still had 10-15 years of his career left, already had 3 rings and was just entering his prime? It wasn't just a few people saying that either, that was the general consensus.

It was just ridiculous to me, they were already dismissing the majority of Kobe's career when it hasn't happened yet just cuz they didn't want him to reach Jordan's level. I've heard similar hatred towards Kobe on other subjects as well.

So maybe that's why I can't take a lot of people's Kobe's opinions seriously, looking back at this post I feel I did a really s--- job explaining it, but I hope you guys get what I meant lol.

I thought the comparisons to Jordan was dumb back then because of how dominant Shaq was.

Blame ESPN because they LOVE comparing anyone to MJ immediately.

I haven't seen an MJ since game 6 in 98 finals.

In the early 2000s the comparisons to Jordan was unbearable on ESPN.

Vince Carter, AI, Grant Hill, Penny, Kobe, etc...I'm sure I'm missing a bunch.

Just wanna put this out there, Kobe had the better footwork, was a better post player, was the better shooter and the better 1 on 1 defender..

Do any of you disagree with any of those?

1 on 1 defense is one that I could argue LeBron being better at. Sure he's got better footwork and better post game. LeBron is more than capable of having 1 or 2 DPOY awards if he took it seriously. Kobe was at his peak defensively as #8 IMO tho.
