Lakers have nothing to lose with that move tbh, it was time for a change.

Weird timing for this, hope they still end up trading Lou Williams before the deadline.

Myself and other Lakers fans used to love Mitch and think he was basically he a genius, but yeah he really hasn't done anything even slightly impressive in recent years so I guess this makes sense. Supposedly they're gonna 'act fast' or whatever but still worried this will set the rebuild back even further, guess it all depends on who they get this offseason and if they keep their draft pick.

Sounds like Kobe's agent is the front runner for the GM spot, really have no clue what to think of that or Magic being in charge for that matter...

Bad move. Jim had to go but Mitch was the GOAT. His demise is the product of something David Stern did 6 years ago. And I'm sorry but Magic will do worse than Phil has done in NYC.

Those Deng and Mozgov contracts are probably what did Mitch in. Jim should've been long gone tho. Did some research on Rob Pelinka, seems like a good hire. Wouldn't mind promoting Ryan West to GM either.

You guys should read Kevin Ding's article. Jimmy Buss passed on Hassan Whiteside and Isiah Thomas for Robert Sacre lmfao

Yeah I already knew they could have easily had both of those guys, pretty embarrassing. It's also embarrassing how long they stuck with Sacre, even last year he kept getting chance after chance over a guy like Tarik Black, who actually produces when he plays. I'll check the article though.

    In other news....

But yeah Mitch probably didn't deserve this, CP3 would be on the team now if it wasn't for Stern then he also made good draft picks lately.

Remains to be seen about Russell, Randle and Ingram but the talent is there at least. Then he even made good late picks too getting Nance late 1st round, Zubac and Clarkson in the 2nd round.

About to be tanking season for a lot of these teams. Nets got the #1 spot locked up, but 5 games (4 in the win column) separates Orlando (4th worst record) and Denver (15th worst).

Maybe Portland thinks they can get a haul for Lillard and end up with one of the many stud PG's in the draft. Celtics will probably end up in a similar pickle this off-season if they end up with the #1 pick, with them probably having to give Isaiah 30 + AAV after next season.

@M Solo @Kon from what I heard Mitch was behind the times as far as getting with FAs before the league mandated deadline. Agents were saying he wouldn't engage before then which made negotiations difficult.

Mitch has been solid for the Lakers lately though. Russell hasn't panned out yet but trading a milli for a 2nd rounder and taking Clarkson, and finding Nance & Zubac late were nice moves. Mozgov & Deng contracts were probably the nail in the coffin though.

Yeah @Poohdini , I heard he was like the only one who wouldn't call people early lol, sounds pretty stupid if that's true. That also makes it even more weird that they managed to get Mozgov so early if they don't call people in advance, he was the 1st free agent to be officially signed by anyone if I'm not mistaken, it was minutes after free agency started.

They must have been so eager to get good old Timofey for whatever reason lol.

Don't know. Zach Lowe or Stein said an executive told him Boston will get Paul George this week.

Lou's basically a perfect bench player and can be a good spot starter too, he can be counted on for 15+ a game and sometimes go off for 25-30 if needed. I think he's pretty valuable right now and sounds like a lot of teams have interest, Magic Johnson said he's talked to 10 teams already (gotta assume most about Lou) and there's still 3 more he has to talk to.

They should definitely be able to get a 1st round pick, either this year or in the future for him with how the market's looking right now. Not sure if I'd consider it worth it from the other team's perspective, but he's got a nice contract at 7 mill this year and next year and he's a reliable scorer..so I think they'll get a 1st, or should be able to at least.

Anyways, breaking news, Lakers got their GM.
