The Nets aren't just offering these huge offer sheets so the rest of the league has to overpay. Even with the deals he's offered to some young unproven players over the last year like Tyler Johnson and Allen Crabbe, he's still got a plan. They've had no picks and won't have their first rounder next draft either because of the Boston trade-r---. They might as well offer those types of guys contracts, because they're not competing for years and if one of them pans out, it will be very beneficial in the long run.

At least he's trying to put his money into young talent that has a chance to develop under Atkinson. He's the former assistant GM of the Spurs, he's a smart dude. There's a reason the Spurs didn't want him to leave, he's like the opposite of Billy King lol.

I wasn't criticizing the Nets for the contract they offered; mostly because everyone knew the Wizards were going to match any offer for Otto. I was criticizing the Knicks for structuring the contract the offered Tim the same way the Nets did for Otto. It was a bad move on the knicks part because:

1. The 15% trade kicker, the way salary was handed out, the player option, and the total cash they offered made it very easy for the Hawks, a rebuilding team, to walk away from Tim. The Wizards think they are contenders and they don't have much salary cap space left so they're best option was to match any offer on Otto and the Nets knew this.
2. The Knicks are having a hard time trading Melo because they offered him a bloated contract and a no trade clause and then they go and give Tim Hardaway a bloated, hard to trade contract.

I like some of the moves the Nets have made but generally I believe if you are a rebuilding team and you have limited resources you shouldn't hand out big contracts for players that don't fit your timeline (Otto & Tim will be 28 & 29 respectively at the end of their deals and the Nets rebuild is projected to be much longer than that). They should instead use their cap space to take on bad contracts in exchange for picks and young assets (Which they did with the D Lo trade).

They've been trying to do that, there's just not a lot of teams that are willing to trade away a young asset or pick along with a salary cap dump. I'm not necessarily saying you think the Nets are just doing this to screw other teams, but I feel like a lot of people are thinking like that and I wanted to give my thoughts on how good of a job Marks has actually done the past year. If the Knicks were in a situation like the nets, the Hardaway deal wouldn't be half bad, but they're idiots lol. There's no clear direction whatsoever and they should honestly trade Porzingis while he's worth a lot before he leaves.

Random thought but wonder if the Lakers tried to ask Bron what he thought of Lonzo lol, gotta think the Lakers are at least kinda planning out the kinda roster they'd want to have with Bron if that's possible next year. Teams always do all they can to bend to whatever Bron asks for, I imagine the Lakers would do the same.

Definitely need more shooters, or really a shooter cuz they don't have any before Bron would come. Need to at least show signs of improvement this season as well.

The got him on a cheap deal but Idk if I like the deal. Jamal Crawford is very entertaining but he's also kinda fools gold. When he's on he looks amazing but a lot of the times he's more bust than hit.
