to maybe secure an 8th seed and start to work on building a winning culture

Long drawn out tanking is lowkey a horrible strategy, look how its working out for philly and the suns. They've already got their franchise player from the draft, they should work on building around him now and signing free agents.

Can't really say it's a horrible strategy yet when we haven't seen it really take place for both teams. Sixers have played the best of the east so far to start off the season and you can't expect a team to look great off the bat 4 games into finally having all the pieces together. I don't know much about the Suns cuz the most attention I've paid to them in the last year was Booker's 70 point game last year.

im just basing it off past experiences, when has a full blown 4-6 year tank ever really worked out well in the nba? like where they completely gut the roster

the proper way to do it is to let it happen organically, build a foundation, be bad for 2-3 years max, then retool, the way the bucks and celtics have done it.

Rebuilding through the draft is the best way to secure your long-term future.

Look at the Sixers. They have 13 players on their roster that are 26 or younger. That's not going to win them anything in the short term but this is a group that's going to be able to grow together like OKC and GS were able to. They have at least 3 prospects with all-star potential (Embid, Simmons, Fultz) and a bunch of solid role players to fill out their team.

The Suns are in a similar situation. They only have 2 players on their roster that is older than 27. Their core prospects (Booker, Chriss, Jackson, and Bender) are all under the age of 21.

The Knicks haven't fully embraced the rebuild yet. They're still recovering from the Phil Jackson era. With 4 players who don't fit into their long-term future making over 11 mil per season; the Knicks should just focus on acquiring young talent and draft picks. Bledsoe might help them win a couple more games this season but he only has 2 years left on his contract. Is it worth giving up a young prospect or 2 for an aging pg who will command over 20 mil per year in 2 seasons?

That said the Suns are a terribly run organization that will undoubtedly ruin it's own chance to be relevant in the future.

the sixers are a pretty poorly run organization also, and they will definitely have trouble recovering from the "trust the process" culture. and their luck in the draft is pretty s-----y aside from simmons

Comparing them to golden state is foolish.
Golden state never tanked for years on end for high draft picks, they got lucky/made good picks in the draft and built around it in free agency.

The odds of anything ever happening like what happened in okc again is pretty much impossible lol, drafting 3 generational talents in 3 years is pretty crazy. and with that being said look how it all turned out when they reached their prime.

    hes a bust btw

The firing of Sam Hinke was a bad move but other than that I can't think of a bad move they've made in the past 4 years. They probably could have handled the Noel-Okafor situation better.

Philly's draft record is about as good as one can hope for. You can't know for sure how good a player will be or how their body will hold up but it can be argued that the only bad pick they've made since 2013 is drafting Okafor at #3 when they already had Nerlens & Embid.

The Philly and GS/OKC comparison weren't when they picked in the draft, it's that their core was built through the draft and they had time to grow with one another.

The GS Warriors just pulled off an OKC like scenario. They didn't get the level of talent that OKC got but they did get a generational talent in Curry, the 2nd most prolific shooter in NBA history in Thompson, and the best defender in the modern era of basketball in Draymond green. This collective talent has changed the way teams play basketball. Philly with Simmons and Embid have two prospects that can be generational talents.

OKC broke up because management got cheap. They deserved to lose KD after mishandling the Harden situation.

Didn't NY just give Tim Hardaway Jr a 4 yr 71 mil contract w/ a player option in 2020 and a 15% trade kicker?

25 isn't necessarily old but Tim Hardaway is a known commodity and he's not worth 17 mil a year. That 15% trade kicker is only going to make that contract harder to move if they choose to do so.

With Enes Kanter on the books for 2 more yrs at 18 +, Noah on the books for 17+ for 3 more yrs, and Lee on the books for 11+ for 3 more yrs, I don't see how this signing makes sense for the Knicks. It does nothing to help them in the short or long term.

Frank and Willy are role players IMO. That trade most likely puts NY into contention for a playoff spot. I'd do it.
